Driving test or Oxegen??? Ahh!!!

Well got my date today, it's for Monday the 13th at 11.55AM! That's the monday after oxegen!!! ahh!!!

    So i have 3 options...

    1) Cancel the test and wait til spetember/october for another date..

    2) Leave Oxegen on sunday evening..

    3) Leave oxegen on monday morning at like 6 o'clock and pray to god i'm sobered up for the test. (Only downside to this is sleeping on and missing the test in which case i lose my money)

I live in the middle of nowhere in wicklow so having a licencse would be uber practical, yet i'm just doing my LC and oxegen is the most AWESOME (yes i did just say awesome >_>) way to kick back after it and Sunday is arguably the best night..

Anyone got any advice? I really don't know what to do here..

Being honest you're probably gonna have to reschedule, even if you do sober up you will be knackered after the weekend!:(

tell them that you are out of the country that weekend - ask to reschedule later that week.

(lets face it you'll probably be wrecked from Oxegen so will be the same as not even being in the country)

Does telling them your out of the country actually work? :S

Just ring up and reschedule, I would definitely not do it after oxegen:
    1. It will effect how crazy you can go by having that nagging feeling in you mind.
    2. You would wan't to be in top condition for you test.

I'm sure rescheduling isn't as big an issue as it used to be, maybe ask for cancellations or something. I had to postpone mine twice last summer but it was only ever put forward by 2 or 3 weeks. Although that was when they had all those SGS centers open

Definitely reschedule, you'll be wrecked and more likely to make mistakes.

Waiting times are down a lot lately, you might only have to wait 2 or 3 weeks.

Waiting times im wicklow are the highest in Ireland at 12 weeks.

I'd still wait, regardless of how long.

You could also get a cancellation.

The music does end a bit earlier on the Sunday (on the main stages anyway) so maybe you could drink a bit less that night, then try to get a lift home after the last band you see, have a decent sleep and then do the test?

id say oxegen and dont drink much sunday... go moday morning to naas....

on another note anyone else notice oxegen tickets ae still on sale...last year they were sold out in a couple of hours.... resession maybe??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,532 ✭✭✭WolfForager

I dunno, at this stage i'm leaning towards cancelling. Been talking to my brother and sister who have experience in oxegening (heh?) and they say even if i take it easy on sunday i'll still be too bollocksed to take a test on monday...

Ring the rsa and apply for a cancellaion test. Then proceed to ring them every day until they give you a test, works a treat.

There's no way you'll be able for that test on Monday, don't even think about chancing it. Last year I was knackered going into work on the monday after like an hours sleep on the bus. I said never again - I'd clear the monday after oxegen from now on so I could get my sleep!

Ring the Rsa and ask for a cancellation,
You may be able to get one within the next 2 or 3 weeks (Before Oxegen). Tell them you need it urgently, The best way to do this would have been to book you test on-line and ring them and informing them that your require it immeditely , usualy you would get it withing 2 or 3 weeks. However seeing a you already have a test date, i dont know how this is going to work out.

Sitting my test on Tuesday, Day after Physics and the day before Construction. Brilliant!

    Good luck!;)

Ah sure try it for the craic!..or else think of a good story to make the rsa think it's very urgent and ring ASAP to be allocated a new time:) Let us know what you end up doing anyway!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,532 ✭✭✭WolfForager

Thanks for the advice peoples! I think i'll ring up my instructer on monday and see what he says about cancelling, he'll be able to tell me how to get on the "urgent/cancellations list" or whatever you call it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 936 ✭✭✭marshmallow

Hope you can get it rescheduled because there is no way that you could sit a driving test after oxegen! Especially if you're going 4-day!

Your not putting it in the right place :P

You sure you can't create a thread? If you go back to the forum you should see a "New thread" button about 3 inches down from the top of the screen on the left hand side.

Btw guys i decided to do the test on monday, going home on the sunday around 6PM. Not drinking after 1. :D

Ticket selling is not allowed anywhere on boards.

I'm in the very same situation myself. Have the test on monday at 11.55 in Waterford. Im probably going to head home after the killers on sunday. They're starting at 10 past 10 so hopefully it should't be that late. It could be another 2 months like if you decide to cancel, probably worth giving it a go, just take it handy on sunday i suppose ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,626 ✭✭✭timmywex

You can always retake the test but you can never retake the party!

how about applying for a test at another centre too ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,361 ✭✭✭bythewoods

What difference does it make if you fail the Driving test? Would you not be waiting the same amount of time 'til your next one as you would if you cancelled it?
Just partay hard at Oxegen, and take the driving test anywayzzz, nah?
Sure if you fail you fail?

Obviously, I know nothing about driving, but I'm all for partaying shortly before tests...
Excuse me if I'm wrong. I guess I don't know everything.

    Oxegen, obviously.

That question would DRIVE me mad. (Get it?)

Hmmm, if i cancelled it there is a slight chance i'd get it earlier. However i am doing it on monday, already arranged for a lift home on sunday night.

    Good luck with it then!
