Dry Needling ?

    Hi folks,

I've had lots of recurring lower back issues caused by chronic tightness in basically every muscle group in the lower half of my body. I saw a physio about it earlier today who did some trigger point myofascial release on it, which has given me some fairly immediate relief.

She suggested next time that dry needling would be a quicker and possibly more effective way of releasing the trigger points. Has anyone had any experiences (whether good or bad) of dry needling ?

I've done a little bit of internet research already but just wanted to hear some anecdotal stuff. Thanks.

I've had it done a lot for my lower back. Absolutely painless when you're having it done and I found it really helped my lower back muscles.

    Really ?

I thought there'd be some pain involved. What about the day after ?

If you're getting the deeper muscles done there's a slight discomfort, just a faint dull ache while the needles are in, and a little stiffness the day after. The muscles closer the surface are totally painless, I felt great the minute i got out the door to walk home.
