Bring your inhaler and eventually when your fitness improves the asthma will not be a big deal, unfit asthmatics are in troble but fit ones, no biggy!

Take your inhaler bfore you start, use your preventor - 'becotide' or other.
Start slowly - 10min, first week, 15 min 2nd week, 20 min 3rd week etc. By then your lungs should be used to it.

Cheers thanks. I'm lucky enough that I dont have to take it every day, but it impedes my training hugely. Thanks for the tips :)

Get a powerbreathe if you can afford one, it trains your lungs and imo helps a lot if you keep it up every day. I stopped for some reason last year (I guess cause the rest of my training stopped) but there were definite improvements in my breathing. I'm asthmatic too btw. Don't get the asthma one though unless you are very bad, I think I got the fitness one, look it up here www.bodykind.ie to see what I mean.

Just curious for an update! I'm in the same position but with bad asthma, need to take my inhaler every day. How did you get on/how are you getting on?

i did a buteyko breathing course a few years back and haven't used my inhaler since. used to only really have sports induced asthma but must say the course was brilliant. i do alot of martial arts, swimming and play hurling and haven't needed my ventolin since 2005

would definitely recommend buying one of these Op!!! I used to go through 3-4 cans of ventolin a year. Changed my GP and he was having none of it, prescribed me one can of seratide and one can of ventolin, finished the seratide prescription and wasnt feeling it so he told me to buy one of these and they work a treat, 18 months later and im still on the can of ventolin he prescribed to me with the seratide! Although it might be out of date as I stopped needing it after a while lol
