When I received my BA and BAI I never had them framed. I was wondering if anyone knew where to buy suitable frames.

Would you care to indicate a frame shop which stock suitable frames?

Depends I guess, are the degrees A4 or bigger or smaller?

Most photography shops should sell frames, or the homewares section in Department Stores or Argos, or the internet. The list goes on.

Loads of places sell frames. Absolutely loads.

The degrees are a non standard ( or at least not a standard commonly used) size. Bigger than A4 smaller than A3. I've found no where that sells them and to date the only suggestion has been to have one specifically made to order.

    THE FRAME SHOP!

    It's in Kildare IIRC.

Should have paid for framing on the night, it was reasonably priced too if I remember correctly.

There's a place in Stephen's Green shopping center called Frame Art; they can probably do it.

And you had your Trinity degree framed there? You're inclusion of a rolleyes smile suggested I should obviously be aware of the world renowned shop which you vaguely believe to be in Kildare.

Nevertheless I managed to find the website here, from the looks of things I doubt they stock the frame size. Probably have to be a custom job.

As I recall it was expensive enough and the frames looked cheap. I'll look at the place on Stephens green.

Of course they will! The site clearly states that they do custom frames and that their frames are mad in the shop, so your best bet would be to either ring or call into them.

I got one framed on the night and not the other (the person left in charge of framing didnt know there was 2 degrees) and had to get a second one. I'll see if there is a sticker or info on as to who made either of them

Theres a shop across the road from hogis figis also AFAIK. They might be able to do something for you. Im pretty sure the one in Stephens Green does custom jobs too.

Reads sell frames of odd sizes I think. Theyre downstairs back left(as you go down the stairs) Being Reads, they're probably pretty poor quality tho.

You make it sound like it was a huge feat to type "the frame shop" into Google.

Did you type that into goolge? Here are the results:rolleyes:. You appear to be trying to come across as clever, but the concept is so alien to you, you're failing hard. If you've nothing constructive to add, please stop blathering all over my thread.

I apologise, I presumed you would have had the cop on to use google.ie and not google.com. My mistake

Although when you do type google.com it usually re-directs to google.ie for those who don't have the cop on....

What's with the hostility in this thread? Seems like a perfectly honest question.

Make sure to get a few photocopies before you frame them.

I took unregistered original comments be an attempt at levity. As in if someone asked "where to buy art supplies" and the reply was "The art shop". The post didn't provide much in the way of useful information, and I don't believe it was intended to be helpful, but rather to mock and ridicule someone seeking help. It's disheartening to see such behaviour from our fine upstanding Computer science students.

I thought so to, apparently not. Must have hit a nerve. Perhaps marks local priest also worked as a degree framer many years ago and my thread has brought back memories of foot steps in the hall and whispers of "It will be our little secret".

I assure you I've have neither rubbed mark the rights way, nor the wrong way. I am, after all, a faithful and moral person.

Hey Boston, have you tried calling into the Summer/Autumn graduation ceremonies in your local/old Uni?

My guess is they'll be offering frames to the graduates there, and would be happy to help you out too.

Other option is contacting the companies that take the photos/frame grad photos etc, such as Lafayette's think their Sandyford based?

If you dont try you'll never know!

G'Luck & Throw me a PM if you find a good deal!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,163 ✭✭✭✭Boston

I refuse to give Lafayette money. Anyone I know who had their graduation photos taken by them, ended up with a terrible result. Completely over priced, rather poor service, rather poor quality photos. A friend of mine had them done privately and they came out far nicer.

Well I'm sure their are other such companies out there... was only trying to help since it's a frame not a photo you're looking for.

worse case you can use your own skills- buy a 2x4, duct-tape etc in a DIY store...

No problem, hostility wasn't meant for you. I just really dislike that company. Something like 100 Euros for the one large and hand full smaller photos without frames. I've since got them framed as they were fortunately a standard size.

Sounds to me like someone reading this thread should set up an ebay type company making/selling frames!

    What goes around comes around?

Years of heckling and trolling from an ivory tower has finally come round to biting him on the arse?

The original poster is like Fianna Fail back bencher who relied on the popularity of his party to survive, now that that has changed...

The above post may be a touch exaggerative/fictional.

I totes read that as "up beating off puppies" and had a "*recordscreech* WHAT!?" moment.

I first read it to be some sort of degree in framing. Whatever the hell that would have been.

@Boston: Act like you're not the first person in the country to have a degree framed. :p

I don't understand your point. The vast majority of my class got it done on the day. And why other lessers institutions may had out A4 sized degrees, trinners doesn't. Hence I was hoping to get some help from a trinity alumni.

For that matter I don't actually know where mine are hmm.
I gave them to my mam at the ceremony, never actually looked at them and haven't seen them since - I really should get on to her about that!

Yes, but they'll have copy/reproduction stamped across them.

    Why?
Its not like you didn't do the degree and you never need the original certificate.

Some places can be very very finicky about what they'll accept as proof.

I was looking at a BA I have in my house and a M.Sc both from TCD and they appear to be different sizes, they're certainly in different frames. Did you actually measure yours or need measurements?

I needed a photocopy for a post grad application.
