I was hoping to avoid these types of rumours but its a bit hard when they appear on the first page of RTE.ie!!

    http://www.rte.ie/arts/2009/0608/lost.html

    The promo:

Haven't actually watched it yet because of work but it sounds a little weird. They might also be trying to lead us all up the garden path.

And a repost of a theory I had a few weeks ago concerning the guitar case Jacob gave to Hurley:

It would certainly be a pleasant surprise from Locke who has already had an "oh he's dead, oh no he's not didn't see that a mile off" cliffhanger. And the guitar case definitly falls into line with this as Un-Locke seems an awful lot like old Locke down to the manky t-shirt so Jacob-Charlie would probably like a guitar to play.

According to EW the hobbit is attached to some other upcoming ABC show (probably Flash Forward) which is why he is in the ad - he's not returning Lost as a regular.

However with Mitchell, Monaghan and Perrineau all signed up to other ABC shows it would be pretty easy to bring those characters back in some capacity next season. So I fully expect to see Michael and Charlie again. Hopefully they'll work something out with the rest of the former cast as well. It would cool to see everyone again before the end.

I read somewhere he may be starring in 'V'... extremely skeptical he's returning to 'Lost'

Wish he was as I really miss Charlie, didn't see the reason why he had to be killed off, so hope the writers bring him back in some capacity.

I read somewhere that Sad Professor actually writes Lost and so we should all take everything he says with a huge pinch of salt. :p

You're probably right. I just came across this:

    Casting rumor

So if they are coming back maybe Charlie is too.

With all these casting rumours does this point to a possible landing in LAX? I still don't buy it. I don't see how logically it can happen (the plane was lost before any Desmond non action in the hatch pulled them to the island). I'd like to see them appear as ghosts or something again. Great to see all the original cast back throughout the last year.

I reckon they are going to play a trick on us in the opening scene of the premiere. i.e., we'll see Shanon and maybe Charlie getting off a plane and then it will turn out to be a flashback or a dream/vision or something.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,559 ✭✭✭✭AnonoBoy

Maybe they'll do a fake-out landing in LA-X before something happens and it pulls them all back into the 'real' timeline of having crashed on the island.

I don't want them to roll out the old cast members like some big check list of things they have to get done. If we do see these people again I hope its for more then simple nostalgia.
What I do hope these casting rumours mean is that the final season will focus a great deal about the original Losties and will be more focused then previous seasons.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,031 ✭✭✭homerun_homer

Well obviously I don't want to see people back for no reason, if it's valid to the storyline then cool but even if it's a background thing or minor flashback then I'll still be appreciative.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

i'm not too happy about all these rumours to be honest... unless they are flashbacks or ghostly appearences like walt etc.. but if they are somehow alive then i'll be disappointed unless they give us an excellent explanation

    Adewale wants to come back!
British actor Adewale Akinnuoye-agbaje is keen to get Lost again after quitting the hit desert island drama to mourn his dead parents.

The star, who played Mr. Eko on the show, asked producers to release him from his contract in 2006, so he could leave Hawaii - where the drama is filmed - and return home to England.

He tells TV Guide magazine, "It was a very traumatic year."

But Akinnuoye-Agbaje is now hoping the show's creators will give him and his character a second chance.

He adds, "To be able to give that rich character some completion would be nice."

    http://www.imdb.com/news/ni0852045/

If anyone finds another source for this please post it. I'm not sure I trust imdb. But this is very cool if true and I hope they bring him back in some form.

I'd be very cautious about this if it was anything more then a cameo in an apparition or flashback or whatever. They have enough characters/stories to deal with at the moment and I don't think they could just pick up his story arch from where they left off, if in fact they haven't already adapted it for another character or abandoned it completely.

Personally I think we have more then enough religious mumbo jumbo on the island at the moment. The arguing of Locke and Eko over their destiny with the f*cking button drove me mental.

Well obviously he's not going to come back to life and rejoin the cast as if nothing happened. But up until now it always seemed like Adewale was the least likely of any of the former cast to return for a guest appearance. So the news that he is in fact willingly to come back bodes well for some sort of cameo.

I found the original source for his comments — it was an interview with TV Guide:
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje disappointed Lost fans and angered producers when he asked to be released from his role as Mr. Eko after his parents passed away in 2006. “It was a very traumatic year,” he says. The Brit would now welcome a return to Hawaii and a fat paycheck from ABC. “To be able to give that rich character some completion would be nice,” says Adewale, who stays in touch with fellow Lost corpses Harold Perrineau (Michael) and Dominic Monaghan (Charlie).

    http://www.tvguidemagazine.com/what-the-keck/eko-meets-monk-1499.html

The fat paycheck bit and the fact that the producers are probably pissed at him don't make me optimistic that this will actually happen. But I'd love to see all the former cast appear in the final episode, maybe in a flashback before getting on the plane or something.

    lol, yeah.

I suppose they could use a stand-in with his back kept to the camera.

John Hawkes, best known for playing Sol Star in HBO’s Deadwood, has been cast in the final season of ABC’s Lost, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Hawkes will reportedly play a character named Lennon, who — as EW told you earlier— is “the spokesperson/translator for the president of a foreign corporation,” as well a “wily negotiator [who's] far more powerful than his lowly position would seem to indicate.” Lost will return for its sixth and final season in early 2010.

L.A. Law's Sheila Kelley has been cast in a recurring role on Lost

Kelley, 45, will play a character named Kendall in the sixth season of Lost. Reps for the ABC series are keeping mum on any details about the role

Kelley is also known for S Factor, her unique fitness classes based on the choreography of pole dancing.

Watched Groundhog Day this morning( by god I love Bill Murray) anyways.... with this whole new technique they are keeping quiet and the fact that the show will be aired on Groundhog Day(in the US) im now seriously thinking that the new technique could be the 'Groundhog Day' technique signalling its ending/beginning with the parrell universe.

That for the first third of the season(refer Fox) each day will be same day over and over.. they will all have memories and remember what happened on the Island but are not actually on the Island because they never went there..... (the mind boggles).. anyway over the 1st third of the season its upto them to try and piece if all together, that day over and over again, and maybe then someone triggers the end of the 'groundhog effect' maybe an outside source Ben? Widmore? etc..

    Some interesting material..... source http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20313460_20323502,00.html

    A. ABC and the Lost producers were totally going for a Groundhog Day resonance! The choice of date affirms Time Loop Theory: that the castaways have been participating in a cycle of events that's been repeating for who-knows-how-long. But did someone (Ben? Jacob? The Man In Black? One of the castaways?) finally break that loop by producing a meaningful deviation during the course of this last cycle dramatized by the past five seasons of Lost?

    B. Actually, ABC and the producers were winking at ''Veja Diena,'' an annual Latvian festival also held on Feb. 2 honoring the god of wind. The significance: The castaways were blown through time via the Jughead and the cosmic gameplaying of gods Jacob and the Man In Black.

    C. ''Veja Diena''? No way! Feb. 2 is a link to Yemaja, the ocean/fertility goddess of the Yoruba religion, who is celebrated in Brazil on Feb. 2. This makes total sense, because Rodrigo Santoro, the actor who played Paulo back in season three, is also from Brazil. See? Paulo really was massively important to the larger Lost saga!

    D. The Feb. 2-Groundhog Day-Veja Diena-Yemaja connections really are just total coincidences — a rare exception to the larger rule that each episode of Lost is layered with hundreds of thousands of clues, references, and allusions. I mean, that's right, right? RIGHT?!

This is pretty much all the ABC promos. My god are they poor especially the really short ones (except maybe the Locke and Jack one but thats just a great scene).

Real shame that they can't do a decent one

A good article here about the possibility of a Lost Sequel (which I hope never, ever happens). The interesting part is this though:
"That ending will not have cliffhangers, or be set up in such a way that people will be saying, 'Clearly they're going to make more of these'. We don't have any connection to another TV series or movie, but there's a new A-Team movie coming out, for God's sake."

The big news out of today’s Television Critics Association Lost panel is that two more past stars of the show are returning for guest appearances in Season 6: Cynthia Watros (Libby Smith) and Harold Perrineau (Michael Dawson)!

Perrineau’s return isn’t all that shocking, but Watros’ return is huge, ending years of speculation, rumors, and invitations extended by the producers to get the actress to return and bring closure to the lingering mysteries surrounding her character. For years, it’s been reported that Cynthia Watros was uninterested in returning to the show (likely because of how she was abruptly and unexpectedly killed off), leaving fans hanging with the questions surrounding her character — namely, why she was in Hurley’s mental hospital, and who she worked for, if anyone (The Others? Widmore? Jacob? someone else?). Now it looks like we’ll finally find out!

The TCA panel appears to have presented no other major news to speak of, aside from executive producer Carlton Cuse again reiterating that Season 6 will pick up at the exact moment where Season 5 left off.

    http://www.approachinglost.com/2010/01/12/breaking-news-watros-perrineau-returning-in-season-6/

Looks like we will get some info on Libby's back story after all.

I wonder what they paid Waltros to get her back. She really gave them the runaround. They had said recently however that if necessary they would resolve her backstory without her.

I knew Perrineau would come back, despite all his moaning and groaning.

I'd be far more interested to see Eko again.

Do each TV company have to consult ABC with regards gettign guidelines for promo's?

The Spanish TV one(with the characters of chess pieces) is intriguing because they actors were used in that and also the Channel 4 promo form Season 3?(cahracters dancing on the beach) probably my fav one.

Interview with Michael Emerson from rte.ie
    http://www.rte.ie/arts/2010/0120/lost.html

Asked by TVGuide.com about his feelings as the series nears an end, Emerson, who plays Ben, said: "I feel great curiosity, because from what I've shot up to this point, I don't see any end in sight.

"The storyline is continuing to expand instead of contract. It's grown more fragmented, rather than becoming more unified. The threads aren't joining up, they're flying away. It will be dazzling to see.

"Certain big mysteries on this show are being answered. Every episode, something huge is falling into place, but it's still a mystery."

On the subject of whether he wanted redemption for Ben, the actor said: "I don't know. I used to have more of a craving for an ending than I do now. Sometimes I think characters are maybe best left alone. I don't know why I thought redemption was going to be satisfying.

"Maybe what's satisfying is that some things never change. I think there will be all kinds of endings for all kinds of characters on our show, but maybe Ben just walks away to do whatever it is he's already been doing for his whole life."

When asked whether he thought fans would be satisfied with the ending, Emerson replied: "Some will, some won't, I'm sure. That was bound to be, no matter what the ending is. There will be argument about it...

"I have high hopes for it being one of those things where you go, 'Oh my God, yeah!' or 'Oh, it's been that all along. I never knew what I was looking at until now'.

"I hope it's a thing that sends us back to Season One and makes us start looking at it all over again with new eyes."

Chances are slim, A-A left them because he was tired of Hawaii, wile they had written a whole storyline for him.

It was in the first episode of season 4: "The Beginning Of The End"

EDIT: Actually no, I'm wrong. It was in the final "mobisode" (number 13) of "Missing Series":
