So with WWDC on tomorrow at 5pm, what are people hoping for ? Personally i'd love apple to release a netbook though i can't see it happening tomorrow. I think notebook line may be given a slight upgrade. It's obvious that the main focus of the conference will be on snow leopard, new iphone and 3.0 software. I really hope Steve Jobs makes some sort of appearance. Hopefully Phil Schiller will surprise everyone and get Steve to do his "One more thing" new product announcement. That would be awesome.

I'm hoping they show off new aesthetic features in Snow Leopard. Aqua is getting a little long in the tooth in my opinion, and the so-called "Marble" theme looks to be shaping up nice as can be seen in Quicktime X and Stacks.

I think that if they could have the scrollbars in applications overlaid on top of the content slightly transparent it would clean up the look of the OS with lotss of windows open. Similar to how it is on the iPhone, also they could only appear when one two-finger scrolls or uses the scrollball on a mouse. Because OS X can recognise what model you are installing on and customises the install depending on it, installs on Macs without a scrollball or two-finger scroll capabilities would resort in the old-style scrollbars showing. One could also change it in the system preferences.

That's about it. I don't believe all of this "Under the Hood" stuff, it seems like a way to try and hide new features from competitors to me.

yeah i have to agree with you there. I can't see apple charging 129 dollars for an OS with no new features even if performance is significantly improved.

I'm waiting on the new Macbooks to buy. But I can't see a notebook refresh being announced at the keynote. It's a developers conference after all. But hopefully they'll get a quiet update in the morning or maybe next week. They are overdue a speed bump but first revs sometimes have a longer cycle than usual however I'm hoping that's not the case this time.

I'm very interested to get a look at Snow Leopard. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for release.

Curious to see if the cheaper iPhone rumours are true and if so what if any features they'll drop. I'm seriously flirting with the idea of getting one but not if it means getting screwed by O2.

There won't be any new iPods until September. I agree, cameras are stupid, especially on the nano, but if they can't bump the storage they are likely to want to add something else.

Ah yes! WWDC 09 better not dissapoint. Hopefully Snow Leopard will be showcased with some new features. I will definitely be purchasing new hardware in the near future so I'm hoping for some spec boosts which I think are likely considering Snow Leopard and all. New iPhone? Well all signs point to yes but I think Apple will either hold out for Steve or bring him back for his "One more thing" as it wouldn't be the same announcing products without him.

I'll be back around 5 before we kick things off.

I hope the change to the iphone is significant enough to encourage people to sell their old model and hopefully reduce the price at which secondhand models are selling at currently.

I hope their is a new os release, I'll definitely be in the queue for that...

Same old marketing spiel, except 7 is like Vista but without the problems.

Not that there have been any problems using Vista personally. This is targeted at the uninformed.

Half way through, boring Snow Leopard details. How much you bet that the new Iphone 3g will have a touchstone charger like the pre? :)

So who's getting ready to take the plunge and go for a new system??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,005 ✭✭✭CivilServant

Only 20 minutes left for Iphone. Can't be that big an annoucement.

Quicktime X looks cool (never thought I'd say that). It looks like they didn't get Marble finished in time, as usual. I wish they'd at least get rid of the aqua scroll-bars and buttons.

    Me. I'll be getting a 13" Macbook Pro. :D

Very pleased with the refresh. I was only expecting a speed bump. But instead - longer battery, backlit keyboard standard, price drop, SD slot, firewire! So glad I waited.

    iPhone! Come on 3.0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,059 ✭✭✭Kid Nothing

Very impressed with the laptop refresh even though I won't be needing one for a good while, it's good to know they're reply to customers with smaller MBP, cheaper Air, etc

Will most likely be getting Snow Leopard some cool features in there.

    Come on good iPhone announcement!

How if you have GPS turned off?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,005 ✭✭✭CivilServant

Dunno about you, but I normally turn off the GPS in else the phone will be dead in 3 hours flat.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Arts Moderators, Entertainment Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 22,693 CMod ✭✭✭✭Sad Professor

Isn't there an app already that does something similar to Find My Phone? Forget what's called. It's available for the Mac too.

Also if you can send a remote command to wipe the data, surely you can remotely turn the GPS on as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,264 ✭✭✭✭jester77

I got the impression that the remote wipe is for mobileme customers only. Hope I'm wrong.

Yeah it looks like it is. But you can still set the data to be wiped if they get the pin wrong a few times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 690 ✭✭✭Frankmagnet

Tom Tom could be very handy. Will it need a data connection or can it run offline?
