Cotto definatelly ain't knocking this freak out ..he basically stayed in his shell for 7.5 rounds of margarito's fight just walking forward taking punishment consistently to the body, the guys punch resistance is as good as I have ever seen, he speed and timing is also brilliant and I would be quite shocked if Cotto Stopped

Your probably right but the constant blows add upp, thats why i predicted a late ko for Cotto..

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.

This fight makes boxing fan glands wet. Clottey so underestimated so long uninvited to the top table and unmentioned by so many commentators and sanctioning bodies,
puts aside his IBF belt, to take on Cotto.

His heart for the fight is so big, even with injured hands; he took Margarito to the wire this is a good fight to have at the current boxing events.
but i would'nt bet against cotto either..but if its anything it be a barn burner

Absolutely ,... Clottey is taylor made to KO Cotto.

This is going to be a fantastic fight, and I reckon I will be the only person backing Clottey in the comp here.

He's so under-estimated , he just hasnt got that special relationship with the US media.

And should he beat Cotto , it will be carreer suicide , as he just wont get a top fight in the future.

Top marks to Mig Cotto for taking this kid on. Loads of respect for both fighters...... cant wait.

Clottey is drifting BIGTIME on all the betting sites. Have they found Madeline McCann in his house or something?

    http://www.hbo.com/boxing/webcast/index.html

    A video of the weigh-in arrow_up.gif

Cotto - 146 lbs : Not a struggle for him , in fact ideally he should be struggling on the 147 brink.

Clottey - 147 lbs : His team came to the scales ready to cover his vitals with a beach towel !
They must have been expecting to have to dis-robe him to make the cut.

I expected Clottey to be bigger in a side to side profile.
But they seem very evenly matched for size and shape.

I really put myself out here in the COMP , by voting Josh Clottey by KO.
    Am I a mug ?...... I'll tell you tomorrow.

I just spotted this today while looking at his ko record on boxrec.
He had 19 fights in africa and he won 14 of those fights by ko.The boxing styles in Africa are a lot different. The opponents he fought are nowhere near as skilled as they're american counterparts.

He had 13 fights in america and out of those 13, only 3 of those were ko's.
Christopher Henry one of the ones he did ko, but he got knocked out plenty of times. So he knocked out 3 american fighters out of 13 -around 23%.
Clottey in my opinion -won't be knocking out anyone tonight.

I had clottey to win aswell in the comp, but, I'm going to change that to cotto because i feel clottey doesn't throw enough punches and he's going to lose all the first half of the fight. This all comes down to who is the fitter man. Cotto will get tired in the closing rounds, but he will hang on to win it by a ud.

You've left me on my own Black-Gold !!
The only Clottey supporter on Boards :(

Interestingly , Cotto starting to drift in the exchanges. (a little)

Ivan Calderon on the undercard too ! (108lbs)
He says he wants PBF next "since Mayweather only fights small guys" :)

Cotto continuing to drift now,... near 2/5 on the exchanges.

    I'm sorry I had to do it ODD-JOB. :D
Should be on soon enough anyway.

the fight is on at 4 am. will you be able stay awake, while watching batman, for that long?

ah it's the recent batman. i thought it might be the old batman series:)

Are you saying batman isn't a good film? :D
Are they going straight to the main event?

I did enjoy the Dark Knight, but i'm not a big fan of the other batman movies.
I think HBO is only showing the main fight.

Same as you, not a fan of the older ones either.
    Hope it's a good fight :)

This is going the 12 rounds. He was off balance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,452 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Well its still on, I thought Cotto had him figured out but clearly not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,452 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

    That cut looks bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,380 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

clottey is defending well and is landing good punches when he throws.

damn it's going to be stopped because of the cut.

He's getting hit with that right and cant see it .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,452 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Clottey is scoring with very clean punches but its hard to score. Also he looks like he panics if he gets caught in the corner.

    I have it level.

    Roppa dope?

haha omg what a fight so far

    Come on Cotto!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,452 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

    Roppa dope?
Clottey looks terrible when he gets backed up, and he scored plenty with his bursts but overall lost that one. Anything could happen here with the way ts gone so far.

a real sea-saw battle . i have cotto just ahead, though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,956 ✭✭✭consultech

Clotteys still got bombs. He was confident in 7 because he took wat Cotto had to offer in 6. If cotto wasnt as slick in defence as hes showing he cud be in trouble, been really good to watch getting away from Clotteys offence.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 852 ✭✭✭blackgold>>

Definitely.I hope that was just cotto taking a break for that round.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,452 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I got it level again though I could see how you could have Cotto ahead. That was very impressive from Clottey.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,380 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

cotto is getting tagged big time now. the cut is really bothering him now. could be a late stoppage

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,956 ✭✭✭consultech

It really unfair to watch though - Cotto's wipin his eye every 5 secons. Wud be good to see what wud happen if Cotto was a two eyed fighter

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,452 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Yeah he lost that one too imo. I have Clottey just ahead now. And that cut might end it if he has another bad one.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,956 ✭✭✭consultech

Cotto is aware he is behind now though I think. Clottey by 1 Id say. Could lead to a stoppage either way now though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 852 ✭✭✭blackgold>>

Clottey is miles ahead.2 rounds atleast

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,380 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

yes clottey is definitely ahead now say due to the cut. as was said...if cotto had full vision he'd probably be ahead.
