Finished 16-9 to Ireland. New Zealand beat Uruguay 75-0 in the same group. The winner of the group goes straight into the semi-final, with the second placed teams in each group playing off for 5th to 8th.

Anyone watching the Argentinian Uruguay game? Its half time and theres some horrible half time show featuring a dodgy looking bloke singing some corny love song to some chick on a red bit of cardboard at pitchside...... wtf?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,416 ✭✭✭chupacabra

Some dodgy singing of Irelands call then, but i would have it no other way :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

Boys looked nicely fired up though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 987 ✭✭✭ekevosu

almost a great start by ireland

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,985 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

Well at least we're not 2 tries down.

NZ miss an easy kick in front of posts.

A few errors from Ireland so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,541 ✭✭✭Davei141

Too many peno's given away but i have been impressed with the irish lads so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,985 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

Terrible kick from McKinley - he's normally pretty solid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,985 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

Anyone know what happened at the start, the commentators are mentioning something.

    Did we disrespect their haka?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

Sheridan just completely and utterly destroyed one of the Kiwi squad.

Commentator awful, won't shut up about whatever happened during the haka. Sad.

No we didnt, we faced up to it Willie John McBride style. And the commentator was disgusted that we "disrespected the great tradition"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,924 ✭✭✭shoutman

Just watching it now, what happened before the match that the commentators are talking about?

surely the white children of the colonists who slaughtered the Maori should be not worthy to perform the Haka

the commentator is so defo a kiwi, what a tosser

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 625 ✭✭✭theKramer

    U20's doing well.

Crhist the Kiwi's are touchy about their damn Haka.

The commentators are going off that it was insulting, blah, blah

The haka is a f*****g challenge. Whats wrong with standing up to that challenge??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

The Kiwi doesn't seem to give much of a ****, its the english fella who was having a hissy fit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

Yellow card for the kiwi 15, took Madigan in the air. In fairness realised his mistake straight away and tried to catch him but still awful move.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 654 ✭✭✭Amabokke

Ireland playing well except their players getting a bit isolated.

    Commentator is a bit idiotic.

    should be a yellow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,887 ✭✭✭Rattlehead_ie

IRB commentators, terrible!!! When you look at a man and tackle him in the air its not trying to save him!!
Otherwise they are doing very well. COME ON IRELAND!!!

Ireland def not scared to go into the breakdown and win the ball...maybe Lions need a few tips from the youngsters

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,985 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

Missed last 10mins, Kiwi just got binned for something and our lads are only 0-3 down.

I've watched a bit of these lads, and Madigan, Kearney and McKinley have always stood out, as well as Ulsters Nevin Spence at 13

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

Backrow playing exceptionally. Looks like it'll be a fair few years before we're running out of talent there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,887 ✭✭✭Rattlehead_ie

Back row are serious for a group of young lads! Young Ryan is exceptional tackler!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 654 ✭✭✭Amabokke

Ireland needs to revert to 10 man game and hit the ABs 10 channel. Irish backline is a bit shaky. ABs 10 a bit nervous.

    Excellent first half for Ireland!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,985 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

    Here's the lineup

    15 - Ian Madigan (Blackrock College/Leinster)
    14 - David Kearney (Lansdowne/Leinster)
    13 - Nevin Spence (Ballynahinch/Ulster)
    12 - Eamonn Sheridan (Lansdowne/Leinster)
    11 - Michael Keating (Clontarf/Leinster)
    10 - Ian McKinley (UCD/Leinster)
    9 - Matthew Healy (Lansdowne/Leinster)
    1 - Jack McGrath (St. Mary's College/Leinster)
    2 - Thomas Sexton (Old Belvedere/Leinster)
    3 - Adam Macklin (Belfast Harlequins/Ulster)
    4 - Ciaran Ruddock (Neath/Exiles) (capt)
    5 - Mark Flanagan (UCD/Leinster)
    6 - Dominic Ryan (Lansdowne/Leinster)
    7 - Brian O'Hara (UL Bohemians/Munster)
    8 - Rhys Ruddock (Millfield School/Exiles)

    Replacements:

    16 - David McGregor (Ballynahinch/Ulster)
    17 - Paddy McAllister (Ballynahinch/Ulster)
    18 - Joe Moran (Galwegians/Connacht)
    19 - David O'Callaghan (UCC/Munster)
    20 - Conor Murray (Garryowen/Munster)
    21 - Andrew Burke (Garryowen/Munster)
    22 - Shane Gahan (Lansdowne/Leinster)

Very impressed with the forwards, and as said the backrow is really competing.

So what did the irish lads do when the haka was going on, one of these jobbies?

For sure, deadlines being met left right and center :pac:

Good performance so far, too many errors from both sides really but encouraging that we are able to hold these so called "invincibles" according to that muck commentator. Backrow are playing superbly, O'Hara especially and the backs are doing the best they can with the ball they are given. Nice breaks from Nevin Spence, Ian Madigan and McKinley. So far so good, we have them worried.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 785 ✭✭✭ALH-06

Fair play to the lads who are playing the Irish music at half-time! Really getting the Japanese crows going!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

I'd include Sheridan in there as well - made a couple of thundering runs straight into the AB's and somehow come out the better each time. Beast of a young fella.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 654 ✭✭✭Amabokke

Irish 10 playing with good confidence, he should do more breaks and chips..

All I'm getting is the referee, no commentary, are you going through the irb website?
