    Right.

That didn't answer my question at all. Not very helpful, are you?

Dont know if its the same for all students, but I was sent a email saying that:

"Following your Summer Exams you will be able to access your exam results via the Internet using Web For Student.

This facility will be available from Wednesday 17th June 2008 at 12pm."

I was also given a special PIN code that I need to use to access the results.

    Hope it helps a bit.

I got that too but was highly confused as to the fact that the date was 2008 and not 2009, so thought it might have been different for this year.

    Thanks though.

You dont need to use the computers in the IT centre to get onto webmail. Any computer with internet connection should do.

AFAIK it's only the timetables (for some stupid reason) that can only be accessed in the college. You can get on to your student mail through learnonline.gmit.ie

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,719 ✭✭✭ARGINITE

studentmail.gmit.ie works best no need to click any links.

so did you all get youre pin already or will i still get mine in the comming days? and if you delete it can u call the college up to get it?

    Thanks

I previously got an email from GMIT registrar about the link for the gmit exam results, but for some reason i cannot find the message, I wonder would anyone be able to help before I go Mad !!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,158 ✭✭✭donmeister

For me under Academic Standings its says: Exemption(s) Granted

Anyone have an idea what this means?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,084 ✭✭✭Hyperbullet

Did you fail anything? If it says that, you may have, and possibly picked up compensation marks from other subjects. Happened me before. Wait til the results come in the post. Its more detailed.

    Go to

    http://www.gmit.ie/study-at-gmit/web-for-student.html

Log in using your student number (Gxxxxxxxx) and your password, which is your date of birth ( ddmmyy ).

    An average of 70+ percent.

I got myself a First Class Honours B.Sc.(Hons).

    I'm so brainy.

I got myself a 1.1 Ordinary Mechanical Engineering Degree!! Honours degree here I come:)

Anyone mind telling me what "Exemption(s) Granted" means?

Aye I was trying the DOB but it didn't work. They emailed me my pin after asking for it.

Just in case others were in the same boat. Just email them stating your name, student id, course etc. and that you want your pin to view results. It took them 2.5 hrs to respond for me.

I hear a lot of people (if not all?) who are outside the country are unable to view their results.

Exemption granted usually means that the required module has not been passed and needs to be repeated.

I think this means that you got 39% but the lecturer gave you an exemption and bumped you up to 40%. Generally if you have a good attendance and do all the work in the classroom, then the lecturer will give you an exemption.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 103 ✭✭thebusoflife

I came across a paragraph some-where about Exemption granted, and I could be wrong, but what I understood was that, even though you've failed you have actually passed!!! :D;) You can continue on with your Course and complete it, but unless you repeat Exam for what you failed, you will not be able to continue on your education after this particular Course is finished. That was my understanding of it! So basically repeat the Exam or Module you didn't get Credit for in case you ever want to go back into or continue on in your education again! :)

    Hope this makes sense! :pac:

Can any-one else clarify more on this or explain it better ?!?! :D

You should try and email the lecturer themselves that gave you the exemptions and ask them what this entails fully. I don't think you necessarily have to repeat any exams - as you have 'passed'. My first time around in First Year I passed into second year on exemptions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,945 ✭✭✭Anima

It means you got over 35% but under 40%. If you get 60% in another subject you can pass that failed subject compensating you up to 40%. So you have passed and dont have to repeat. I dont you can do that in modularised courses though so it might mean something else.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8 galway2

I think you may be mixing up compensation and exemption!
Exemptions are granted for exams passed if you have failed one or two other subjects. On Modular programmes you can carry a total of 10 credits (usually 2 subjects) but will have to repeat them within a certain time.:)

exam results are no longer available to students from today in order to facilitate autumn exams. Students where notified of this in the email that was sent to them in the summer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42 linkedin09

I need an official transcript of my results for a masters but they seem to be taken offline, is there some way of getting the OFFICIAL transcripts for 2008/2009? ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,719 ✭✭✭ARGINITE

Go to the exams office and ask them for an official copy of your results.
