Are you a cucumber taster?

I hate cucumbers.

I remember from years ago in Biology that some people have a cucumber-tasting gene that decides if you can taste cucumbers or not, just like some people can roll their tongue and some can't.

According to Wikipedia:

There appears to be variability in the human olfactory response to cucumbers, with the majority of people reporting a mild, almost watery flavor or a light melon taste, while a small but vocal minority report a highly repugnant taste, some say almost perfume-like. The presence of the organic compound phenylthiocarbamide is believed to cause the bitter taste.

I'm a cucumber taster. What about you?

What's not to love about cucumber, it's one of the central pillars of summertime! Full of juicy yet crunchy goodness. And pickling them is criminal.

We did this test in college to demonstrate basic genetics. We had to bring home strips and ask our parents to taste them.

I'm not a taster so I can enjoy the lovely cucumber-y goodness!
