Spotted between Dublin and Carlow the other day, That's obviously not legal, how can they get away with this, there's no other reg visible and it's the same on the front.

Hard to understand that a business would fit false number plates.........

Why not? You can regester whatever numberplate you want for a cost. If they're willing to pay for it, let them.

So it's not a false reg then?

Don't think you can, has to be numbers in the Republic.

You can't, but it would be a good way to boost revenues! Although the system where you can reserve a specific number was allegedly costing the state money. That was the excuse given when they increased the price to reserve a number to 1000 euro last year.

The plate is used so much that the centre is popped out of the 0.

I'm just more amused that the Gardai are turning a blind eye to it. If I customised my reg number to suit my car, they'd be all over me.

Try 04 KE 536 (KFM on a phone)

    Registration 04KE536
    Make FORD
    Model TRANSIT
    Description 280 LWB
    Fuel Type DIESEL

Alphabet doesnt work at all cos it'd be 04 KE 11613 and thats not registered.

Close enough? They'd hardly take the reg off a transit though. That'd be all kinds of illegal.

Has to be along the lines of changing the numbers to corresponding letters.

Oh how did we miss it, the way they've discreetly morphed a 5 into a K, a 4 into an F. ha, such chancers.

ah, 536 is KFM in phone speak.... that's alright then.

Still the wrong van though, but coincidence that its a van.

Maybe a call to the station (the radio one) durign some sort of on air interview to ask the question might uncover the answer?

I don't condone it but the point of a number plate is to identify a vehicle.
The van is fairly recognisable anyway.

If they can get away with driving on the reg then they are unlikely to be caught for anything.

What kind of radio station has a promotional Transit? Wheres the Mini or other eye catching car?

I think that is more than just a promo vehicle, I'm pretty sure it's their outside broadcast van - complete with Smashy & Nicey type Deeee Jaaaayyy.

you can only pre-order a reg , numbers not letters on a new car, cannot do what they have on theirs in Ireland, doesnt matter if it corresponds to their logo or wavelength its totally illegal afaik

I'd imagine they must have got permission from the relevant minister to do this. They wouldn't pass the DOE/get taxed without having gotten permission to do this.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

You can find it parked up at the back of their unit in the M7 busines park (J10 M7). It is there any time I am visiting the neighbouring units.

Id say they stick on the 04 KE KFM plates when they are parked up and doing promotions - bit like garages do when they have cars of the forecourts eg a 2000 Dublin Volvo S40, might read 2000 - D - S40.

Probably didnt want to pay for the likes of the Reg plates on the FM104 Bettles - 04 D xx104

Probably forgot to stick back on the proper plates before pulling off!!

Except they did! Its reg is 04-KE-9760 as said on the thread, one of their transmitters is 97.60MHz.

I wonder, when they have the real plates on, do they put a little piece of insulation tape the size of a dot between the seven and the six?

No ones forcing you to reply or even read threads. Any more of that and you might end up with an infraction or ban.

I wonder what an ANPR camera would make of this plate? Maybe it would read it as a non-Irish plate and ignore it.
