    Teams:

    British & Irish Lions:

    15 Rob Kearney (Leinster/Ireland), 14 Tommy Bowe (Ospreys/Ireland), 13 Brian O'Driscoll (Leinster/Ireland), 12 Jamie Roberts (Cardiff Blues/Wales), 11 Ugo Monye (Harlequins/England), 10 Stephen Jones (Scarlets/Wales), 9 Mike Phillips (Ospreys/Wales), 8 Jamie Heaslip (Leinster/Ireland), 7 David Wallace (Munster/Ireland), 6 Tom Croft (Leicester Tigers/England), 5 Alun-Wyn Jones (Ospreys/Wales), 4 Nathan Hines (Perpignan/Scotland), 3 Phil Vickery (London Wasps/England), 2 Lee Mears (Bath/England), 1 Gethin Jenkins (Cardiff Blues/Wales).

    Replacements: 16 Ross Ford (Edinburgh/Scotland), 17 Euan Murray (Northampton Saints/Scotland), 18 Stephen Ferris (Ulster/Ireland), 19 Andy Powell (Cardiff Blues/Wales), 20 Harry Ellis (Leicester Tigers/England), 21 James Hook (Ospreys/Wales), 22 Shane Williams (Ospreys/Wales).

    Golden Lions:

15 Louis Ludik, 14 Michael Killian, 13 Jannie Boshoff, 12 Doppies la Grange, 11 Dusty Noble, 10 André Pretorius, 9 Jano Vermaak, 8 Willem Alberts, 7 Franco van der Merwe, 6 Cobus Grobbelaar (captain), 5 Willem Stoltz, 4 Brad Mockford, 3 Gert Muller, 2 Willie Wepener, 1 Lawrence Sephaka.

Replacements: 16 Ethienne Reyneke, 17 JC Janse van Rensburg, 18 Ernst Joubert, 19 Todd Clever, 20 Chris Jonck, 21 Walter Venter, 22 Earl Rose.

Well, it's game number 2 as the Lions face the Lions. :pac:

All the Leinster Lions bar Luke Fitzgerald make the starting XV with Brian O' Driscoll as captain.

It will be fascinating to watch the centre partnership of Roberts and O' Driscoll, who are the favourites for 12 and 13 in the test team.

The Welsh half back pairing of Phillips and Jones get a chance to shine as well. I thought Phillips make a good impact off the bench on Saturday so it is a big chance for him to seal his test place.

Rob Kearney has huge boots to fill, with Byrne being the MOTM last week imo. Let's hope he shows his class in Johannesburg.

COME ON THE BRITISH AND IRISH LIONS!!

The fullback Ludik is very handy under a high ball,he will have an interesting battle with Kearney.

André Pretorius will be trying to prove himself to Peter de Villiers for a possible test place, cant see him getting ahead of morne steyn or pienaar if hes back from injury though.

Teams from the currie cup shouldnt be underestimated but if the B&I lions play to their potential there shouldnt be a problem, but if this 15 play like last saturdays 15 then theyll be in trouble.

15 Louis Ludik, 12 Doppies la Grange, 9 Jano Vermaak, 6 Cobus Grobbelaar (captain), 2 Willie Wepener

These players will cause all kinds of problems for the Lions. Ludik especially, he is being touted as a potential springbok for both this tour and the Tri-nations if Jantjes stays injured and Terblance stays white. He will probably miss out only because of Kirchners performance on the semi and the final this year.

Expecting an improved performance - The BI Lions have much less pressure on them now. Lots saying the golden lions will win...

    I know. It's a sad truth.

The Golden Lions were the weakest of all SA teams in the S14 this year, their coach just got sacked, only 2-3 players for the boks and there is a bit of controversy in their camp at the moment....

...which will make them even more dangerous and determined to win and they will take their anger out on the rugby veld as typical as a saffa player would do.

We saw what happened last week and if the BI Lions pack can't stand up to the physicality then it will be up to BOD again to try and save the day.....BUT don't underestimate doppies and jannie - two very strong and physical players.

One thing that I wonder is after the plenty of injuries and bruises on Sat against the Royals how long the BI Lions can sustain this and come the first test will they have enough players in good condition with fuel in the tanks to put up a good performance, I doubt it.

My prediction is a an ugly win by the BI Lions but it will be very confrontational. Expect a few injured players for next match.

I don't think it was physicality the Lions lacked, it was cohesion.

The Lions pack was monstrous, and poorly organised.

Hoping against hope they play a lot better than last time. I think our backrow is very interesting, as is the midfield partnership.

    Lions(B&I variety) by 20.

I want to see Ferris play, I was sure he had his place nailed down on the starting 15 but he hasn't been given any time to prove himself yet.

His ridiculous strength and size and work rate is vital.

This match is a great chance for Rob Kearney to show his potential . He has not had much game time recently due to illness and this is is only chance to get the no.15 jersey ahead of Lee Byrne who put in a very strong performance in the first match.

B&I Lions are +13 (10/11) on the handicap for the match this evening, could see us winning it alright but by +13 is a bit much don't ya think? Some people are even tipping the Golden Lions...

I think you mean Lions -13

B & I Lions +13 would make Golden Lions the favourites.

Yeah. They've called up Martyn Williams to the bench as back up.

I wouldnt be too surprised if they beat us, they have a good team that came to within a score of beating most of the top Super 14 teams this season.

    Try Lions.

Scored by Roberts. Made by BOD.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,442 ✭✭✭ongarite

Nice try from Roberts after off-load from BOD.

    7-0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 309 ✭✭spoon

    0-7 now.

Nice try, the forwards did great to make those yards so quick. Then nicely finsihed off by the backs.
