Sorry, have to go with Donegal on this one,

    Letterkenny is better than Westport,

Sliabh Liag is better than Croagh Patrick,

    Killybegs is better than Kilalla,

    Glenveigh is better than Ballycroy,

    and

Rory Gallagher pisses all over Richie Kavanagh

    Which is worse then?

    Danny O'Donnell or Enda Kenny?

Kenny is a piece of shoite imo. Couldn't lead a dog around a crow's nest

Ah he might not be able to 'lead a dog around a crow's nest' but isnt his party doing well this weekend??

Actually come to think of it O'Donnell and himself could be related!! they both have that same voice (albeit the accent is different) that makes ya want to have tea with their Mammies (but nothing else lol).

They're doing well except they ran 5 in Letterkenny. One got through.

Donegal is a Fianna Fáil place. People still vote for them in Donegal even though they're always picking there nipples off about them.

It's unique to be rural now?
Urban sprawl must be more out of hand than I thought.

I actually like Donegal, but Westport is a fine town.
One of the best in Ireland.
Spend a week-end during the summer and you will certainly enjoy it.
It is also very accessible, being on the train route.
Yes, Westport for me every time.

I'm not from Donegal. I just think Donegal is better than the hole that is Mayo

Why is Letterkenny been compared to Westport, you have Castlebar and Ballina aswell in Mayo.
Neither are great but I think I would vote for Donegal, I'm stuck between the two been from Sligo.

The really big cliffs in Donegal(can't think of the name of them) are spectacular.

    Slieve League,

Well to be honest with you having been to the to the towns of Castlebar, Ballina and Westport and the city of Letterkenny in Donegal, I find Letterkenny more interesting. Bigger, more vibrant, more to do. The beautiful Cathedral, a lot more shops etc, etc,

You for real calling it a city. I know Letterkenny is better than any town in Mayo but comparing the biggest town in Donegal to the 3rd(?) biggest town in Mayo is not comparing like for like but comparing the closet one to Letterkenny, Letterkenny wins hands down.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 211 ✭✭!

Well I suppose Letterkenny has more potential than any of those towns in Mayo. Sure even Sligo is a better town than them places in Mayo.

For dramatic landscapes, Donegal would definitely have the edge over Mayo.

But Mayo's towns are nicer than Donegal's. Wesport is one of the most attractive towns in all of Ireland, whereas Letterkenny is a disgusting mis-shapen sprawl of ribbon upon ribbon of poorly laid out housing estates going on for miles out of the town. It is a planning disaster.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 211 ✭✭!

Yea they're building out in the suburbs - expanding the town. They're spacing things out, not crowding things in. That's good to see.

Mayo has the Biggest Sea Cliffs in Europe, even though Donegal are trying to claim them. They are in Achill
Castlebar replaced Letterkenny as the fastest growing town in Europe
Mayo has the largest number of Blue Flag Beaches in Ireland
      Mayo has an International Airport
AND THE DEALBREAKER - Mayo has Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin.

Castlebar is not the fastest growing. It would be one of the fastest growing.
