I've been working the past couple of days so I haven't seen much of the sun. I had plenty of customers telling me about how great the weather is though, as if I want to know.

I think may be referring to something else :). I got scalded myself, as per usual try to get the full years tan in one day!!

I've been out all day today in the sun getting a nice tan, without any fancy sun cream.

    Beat that

Both my arms looks light lightsabres. I was studying in the sun and had one arm on the table writing and one arm down by my side, so my left arm got all burned and my right one was still pale, so I had to swtich to the other side of the table, put sunscreen on my left arm and keep my right arm on the table for a while to even things out. Unfortunaely they're a bit too even and now both bright red and burny.

I was only out in the sun for about an hour on the way into work. Serves me right for staying out all night.

I have never understood peoples desire to lie in the sun for so long that their skin burns.

There is simply NO sense in that, none.

However lying in the sun to get a nice non pale tone makes perfect sense.

    No, no it does not.

Your skin colour is what it is why does anyone want to change that?

Based on the "ideal" skin tone of the beautiful people in glossy magazines?

    Bollix.

No, based on what I think looks nice. Jet black hair and pale skin don't go well together.
Not everyone reads sh1tty magazines (I have never bought a single magazine in my life btw :pac: unless Autotrader counts as a magazine)

ok,let me say first that i hate getting a tan, i never sunbathe and prefer to stay white.

however......i was just on my first holiday aboard and went to spain.lots of spf 30 on arms, legs, neck etc but did not use it on my back or chest as i wore a t shirt.

went to a water park, took off t-shirt.....few hours later i had sunburn in the shape of my t-shirt and arms and neck were still pale.

at the disgusting peeling stage now. heres a tip for you,do not sit topless on a leather sofa.

when i got up i left a large chunk of skin on the leather.

is there a smilie for eeewwwww

Good sizzled a little myself. Really annoyed because I was really careful and getting burned and skin cancer are one of my biggest fears!

Ah well, I'll just have to use more cream next time!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

No sun burn for me yesterday but I'll stick a bit of cream on today to be safe.

    www.meteireann.ie
Today will be dry and mostly sunny, once the overnight mist and fog patches clear. The sunshine will be hazy in places, especially in parts of Connacht, west Munster and west Ulster. Temperatures will reach 20 to 25 degrees inland but it will be a few degrees cooler by the coasts due to sea breezes.

Gonna be a hot one again.

Just had a look at the temperature and ours in Perth is the same as Dublin currently and it's the start of winter here!

 I was told the exact same thing, and from a Swedish girl working for Sword Security, that in Sweden, Kopparberg is strictly a wimmins drink there.

my mam, sister and uncle all have skin cancer, they are all fine except they have bits of skin chopped off here and there, looks horrible, I and my daughters have to go once a year to the skin cancer doc in St James' hos to get checked, I don't want to be a moany minny but hear are 2 interesting facts

    1. skin cancer can stay in you for years before it comes out.

2.if you have sun cream in your press/fridge from last year, the first 1/4 inch is now moisturising cream DO NOT shake the bottle instead squeeze out and dispose of the first lot.

I don't want to moan at yous on a lovely day but please be sun safe and cover all moles.

it's also the most cureable cancer if caught on time

I did. Does anyone know how to apply cream to your back ? I was at home alone and couldnt reach the middle of my back - thats the only bit that got burned.

    Any ideas ?

Get spray on sun cream. Or put some on a rag on a stick and get that back covered up goodo.

I could never see the appeal of lying down in the sun all day. I'd rather lie down on my bed.

For a nation of such fair skinned folks, we really are quite ignorant
of the dangers from over exposure and lack of protection.

When will we simply accept it that as Irish, we aren't able
for the sun. We are fair skinned, not dark or black
    or tanned.

We burn easier and quicker and are
at such a high risk from a deadly and painful
disease. It only takes a minute or two
to apply cream, yet the amount of people
who don't and end up burnt is staggering!

Okay, you get a bit of a colour, but within a few bloody days, you
are back to your pasty pale and white complexion. Is that or those
few days saturating the sun without protection really
    worth it?

Hey, enjoy the bit of sun, but take precautions, always!

Maybe the dosage, strength and frequency was off. You must keep
reapplying and after being in the water, it's a good idea to
reapply. I would recommend a complete cover of factor 50
    and to reapply when needed.

    Goddamn the fact I'm fair-skinned.

It's easy.. you obviously try and use the palm of your hand. But actually use the back of your hand.
