Hair Woes!

    Hi Girls,

I've just recently moved to Galway City and have decided to get hair extensions. I have looked around a few salons but they're soooooo expensive and I can't justify spending €500 upwards on my hair!

I googled hair extensions Galway and this gumtree ad came up for a mobile extionsionist who comes to your house. It's only €300 for a full head and I'd only want want half so I guess that's only be €150. This sounds a bit too good to be true. She uses a micro-ring method which I've researcehd and apparently it doesn't damage your hair, well maybe a little but not like the glue.

I called teh number and the girl seemed really friendly but when I got off the phone I was wondering how safe this is. If it went wrong I'd have no fall back. Is this very risky do you think?

Reason I'm even getting extesions is because I had a hair dye disaster (stupid home dye kit turned my hair orange!) and my hair is now light and fine and lacks any volumne. It's long but lame!

Was also wondering if clip ins are any use? Can you wear them everyday, can you wash them? Can you see where they clip in?

So many questions, any help welcome girls!
    Thanks

    Hi there!

I actually researched hair extensions for myself before, spoke to about fifty hairdressers and the majority of them advised against hair extensions that weren't clipped in.
One of them showed me glued in ones she had and said she had to top up the glue every day, and told me if you had extensions that weren't clip-in, you'd need to go to a salon for a blow-dry on a very regular basis to keep them in good condition and would constantly be dealing with the extensions falling out - expensive to re-do and very frustrating.

So, in my opinion, clip-in extensions are the only way to go! I got mine on ebay, actually! An 8-piece set for 80 euro, which does the whole head - you can use a two sets for thick hair.

You can wear them every day, take in and out as you please, they're human hair, so you can dye them if you change the colour of your own hair. You can wash them, brush them, style them etc.

All you do is place them in various sections around your head, under your natural hair and you won't be able to see them! :)

    Thanks for that!

I've had glue in extensions before and they were beautiful for the first month but taking them out was a nightmare. My hair was so flat and brittle. I never had split ends before but now my hair won't even grow cause of them!
    Bad news!

Do you mind me asking the name of the ones you got? I'm an ebay virgin so I wouldn't know where to begin looking! Stupid hair is driving me nuts!!

I think I got mine from This shop :)

I was also waaaay off with the price - Mine were actually 40 euro!
But because of the strength of the Euro vs The Pound, the extensions are only just over 26 euro now!

    Bargain (:

I'd definitely recommend buying them from Ebay - they're exactly the same as the ones you'd get from a hairdresser, but about a quarter of the price!

As I mentioned before, they're human hair - so you're free to wash and dry them (try using as gentle as shampoo as you can!) then curl them, straighten them or do as you please!

Oh, and because they're extensions, the hair obviously doesn't get greasy or anything, so you don't need to wash them a lot! Just now and again, to keep them smelling fresh!

Thank you so much, you're a doll!!
Gonna buy these tonight...one last quick question if you have the time..well two actually...how do you put them in, can you do it yourself or would you need a friend to help? Can you sleep in them and is that uncomfortable?
Oh and one last thing...how long are they, would I need to go to a hair dresser to cut them?

Thanks a million for your help! I really do appreciate it. You have just saved me a fortune.

I've had every type of extensions!
Clip ins are fatastic for nights out, I'd recommend human hair cos you can curl it and straighten it. Plus you can dye them if you order the wrong colour!
I've won bonded extensions with microorings for about 2 years, a girl called Melissa does them and her prices are very resonable, especailly compared to salons in Dublin. I think shes brillinat and I wouldn't go without extensions now. Her website is www.ourlittlesecret.ie

Oh and clips ins are easy enough to put in yourself but I really would recommend sleeping in them, I've done it once and my head was really sore for days! They usually come in all different lengths, I used to just cut mine myself if they were too long.
    I hope this helps :D
