Has anyone managed to get a platinum trophy yet? I'm trying to get there on Buzz but its tough going. I've heard drakes fortune is easy enough to get one in but i haven't play it since they added the trophies to it.

I finally mamaged to get my first one last week with The Godfather 2, which is a pretty easy one to get, you can get it in one play through, performing all the different executions is probably the hardest part of it, but if you make sure you do 'em from the start you should have 'em all by the time you finish the game.

Managed to get my second platinum yesterday with Fallout 3. Was on my third play through, it takes a while to get all of 'em. I put in a good 40 hours into it over the weekend. You can cheat getting the 'reach level 8' as good, evil and neutral etc. by playing through as good and making a seperate save file just before you hit the trophy level and steal a lot of stuff to get to neutral karma, or kill a load of people for evil karma.

Single player games, or games with no online related trophies are probably the easiest way to get trophies. Also with Fallout and Godfather there was no 'finish the game on the hardest difficulty' style trophies, so they were relatively easy to get, just took a bit of time and patience. They were enjoyable enough trophies to get, there weren't any frustrating ones really.

inFAMOUS is out on Friday too and the trophies in that look fairly straight-forward to get.

If you look at this list it has a star rating next to all the games with trophies indicating how hard it is to get a platinum.

Argh I just remembered I'monly one trophy away from the platinum in Burnout Paradise too, still need the 8 players meet in Wildcats stadium one.

That list is insanely usefull, cheers.

I don't usually bother with platinum's. But as I'll be renting Terminator I might as well go for it.

Plus, the new Bionic Commando game is currently on its way to me so I might as well go for the platinum in that also (as there aren't any ridiculous online trophies to get)

Some people like extra challenges from their games, I wouldnt worry so much about it.

I have mine in Fallout 3 and Trivial Pursuit (I love TP, and it was easy) Should have Drakes, Burnout, Eat Lead, Deadspace and Terminator by next month, hopefully.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,509 ✭✭✭NotorietyH

Well for me it adds replay value. I know I wouldn't have replayed Fallout this weekend without 'em and I actually enjoyed the game even more this time through. What I don't understand is people who say they should get rid of 'em (not you but I've seen other people say it), if you don't like them, just ignore them, it's not like they affect the game in anyway.

Oh crap yeah lol, forgot about that one. Surprised I didn't think of Burnout when I asked myself what'd be the easiest game for me to get a platinum in that I own and opted for playing Fallout for 40 hours again! lol.

Dude, I had to get 10 more Burniut trophies, you had to get 2 Bronzes and I platinumed it at Christmas

At least didn't spend your weekend trying to get 2 pìss easy trophies

lol yeah, that's the way I looked at it, I wanted to play a decent single player game that would actually keep me busy for the weekend considering I've run out of TV shows to watch!

got my first ever platinum trophy on resident evil 5 last week lol

I have none yet im such a loser, getting a bronze one keeps me happy.
I am trying to get Dr. Robotnik’s M.B.M.: Complete the game
Thats in Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection.

Its hard like a mofo !!! A few other prooving difficult.

The hardest game for trophies has to be warhawk, prob cos it was one of the first to have trophies i guess.

And RevKitchen i used to never take any notice of trophies but they give me a semi now.

Is it hard, the Sega one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,067 ✭✭✭L31mr0d

I can never understand peoples facination with trophies

It adds to the game. I will play a game for longer and on a harder difficulty if there are trophies daring me to do it.

You could analyze anything and see it as pointless... I mean in the grand scheme of things what is the point of completing any video game?
Let me know how Bionic Commando is. I heard its poop from websites but Retro was saying his mate had a review copy and liked it.

It's good, the swing mechanics feel a little stiff, but they just take some getting used to. Also, I decided to play through it on my first run in commando mode (hardest difficulty) to get the trophies. Big mistake as even just grunts will kill you in a few shots. Anyway, overall I'm liking it so far. What keeps it from being repetitive is that you are constantly being prompted with new challenges to unlock trophies or upgrade weapons and abilities, so you can't just kill every grunt you have to full fill some conditions first.

nah, youd do it in a few hours

dr robotniks mean bean machine is pure luck more than skill though... hes a bugger to beat then all of a sudden he does something stupid and you win in a flash

one of my favourite plats is mercs2 and im just missing 1 trophy for the endwar plat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,347 ✭✭✭✭Grayditch

I think I'll pick up the Megadrive one.

Made it to about 60% on Drakes Fortune tonight, second play through with all the bonus weapons from the first play through helps. Treasure hunting is a lot more fun than I thought as I'm getting a bronze for every 5 I pick up, not to mention unlocking more free stuff.

Eat Lead, I might give a miss. Such a messy game.

Killzone 2, I would love more than anything, but it's just not gonna happen.

i beat merceneries 2 and got a rake of trophies but i hated the game and couldn't bring myself to play it through again

eat lead isn't the worst of them, it sets out to do something and it does that (and by "that" i mean an average shooter). its not like some games where they try to cover all bases and end up with everthing lacking or crap

It can double the length of a game, and theres a real fuzzy feeling inside when you get a platinum, or gold at that.

    I've three platinums:

    1. Uncharted: DF
    2. Fallout 3
    3. GTA IV

Also, I also think the UFC Platinum will bow at my heels

I've a feeling the complete all stunts one is going to be the only one I don't get! For the life of me I can't do the one where you have to take out 3 guys with one shockwave while blasting them off a roof.

I've actually managed to blast three guys off at once, but they die from the fall and it doesn't count. I think you actually have to kill them with the shockwave not the fall and it's wrecking my head running around in circles trying to drain their energy without knocking them off the roof or killing them before i get the chance to shock 'em. I've 4 stunts left to perform including that one.

Got 100% in Terminator Salvation at the weekend, 11Gold 1Plat, finished it in 4 hours, total joke of a game, complete rubbish. Exchanged it for Bionic commando the next day.

Got a plat in Bionic Commando over the weekend. Easily possible in 2 playthroughs. Although I'd recommend going for the commando trophy first. That way you'll know the layout of the levels when you do it again in normal difficulty and know where you'll be able to complete the various challenges.

I found these 2 links helped also:

Excellent list mate, although Fallout3 is a handy platinum the time aspect can take awhile, that said its a great game to play and an enjoyable Platinum to have. Unchartered is another fun Platinum and easily achieved with 2 playthroughs, COD WAW is ok, playing on Veteran can be tough but once you take you're time its cool.
Hope to Platinum on Buzz, inFamous, Fifa09, Deadspace and VT09 in the next 2 months.

Good luck with infamous! I'm so close to the platinum on that. All I need is to perform all the stunts and find all the blast shards. I have 348/350 shards at the mo and I've scoured he city, haven't a clue where to find the last one. Will have to play through again to get all the stunts I think.

Deadspace might be a pretty doable one, although it'll take a few playthroughs to upgrade all your weapons. Then another playthrough to get the beat the game only using the plasma cutter trophy.

Do that when doing the impossible playthrough.

Am on chapter 7 on impossible at the moment, when I finish it I will pick up my platinum..:D
