Off the top of my head, Grizzly Bear - Veckatimeist.

On the EP side of things, Villagers - Hollow Kind (though that may have been 2008) and Little Green Cars self titled debut.

    Riceboy Sleeps. By some distance.

All three posts so far are top notch, i like the new Jarvis EP, Dark was the night compilation and Dangermouse/Sparklehouse Album.

Can't remember if Frightened Rabbit was this year or last...

Oh and Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix

    Fever Ray is also wonderful.

White Lies - To Lose My Life

Maybe a little heavy for Alternative & Indie but I'd definitely say Mastadon - Crack the Skye. Honourable mention for The Thermals - Now We Can See

Villagers have an EP out?Must track it down, saw them in the Roisin Dubh in Galway and was impressed.

For me it's the Grizzly Bear album (just got it yesterday though so I may be a bit biased).

The Villagers Hollow Kind EP is exceptional too.

And (yeah, here I go again) These Four Walls from We Were Promised Jetpacks sounds great, it's out on June 15th. (Also check out their first video - plug, plug, plug!)

Lordgoat - Frightened Rabbit album was 2008. It's still as fresh as if it was released last week though.

I must check out that Riceboy Sleeps album. I really like anything I've heard so far.

Andrew Bird - Noble Beast (Not as good as Armchair Apocrypha, but what could ever beat that...)
    Whitest Boy Alive - Rules
    Fever Ray
The Joy Formidable - A Balloon Called Moaning

    My favourites so far are:

Hazards of Love - Decemberists (didn;t think much of it at first but it has really grown on me)
Bat For Lashes - Two suns

I know its been mentioned already but The Danger Mouse/Sparklehorse record is quite the class

Two Suns is an excellent album up till the last 2 songs, where it loses it's way a bit.Still good, a big improvement on Fur And Gold and bodes very well for a third album

I didn't like this at all, the first track is class but otherwise a little disappointing. However his daytrotters sessions is magic. Lull is amazing.

Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is a great album! Very impressed with it so far!

Gotta give Kingdom of Rust by Doves a mention. Solid.

    Grizzly Bear

    Fever Ray

    Both excellent albums.

    sucioperro - pain agency.

the guitar on this album is absolute divine.

    marmaduke duke - duke pandemonium.

funkiest record i bought by far, duelling bass, cowbell, wine glass percussions. what's not to like?

David Kitts 'Nightsaver' is a true return to form..

As is the new Jarvis Cocker record...

Watch out for the new Twilight Sad later this year, I've heard some of it and to say it could be the best album of year is no exaggeration!

    Aye, Animal Collective as well.

Don't get Animal Collective at all. Grizzly Bear is tipping dangerously on overhype, which would be a terrible shame because I like it a lot. I think it probably is one of my favourites so far alright, but it doesn't get my heart racing or anything.

Sunset Rubdown's Dragonslayer is cracking, and Dark Was The Night deserves kudos too.

But yeah, Veckatimest is the winner so far, that or Bell Orchestre's As Seen Through Windows, but I'd just be disappointed if there's nothing more exciting on the way.

    Iron & Wine...around the well
A shout out too for Bat For Lashes, Franz Ferdinand and David Kitt

    This year is really going great for brilliant albums;

    Franz Ferdinand - Tonight...
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's blitz
    Horrors - Primary Colours
    Doves - Kingdom of Rust
School of Seven Bells - Alpinisms
    Howling Bells - Radio Wars
The Things - Some Kind of Kick
Manics - Journal for Plague Lovers
    Empire of the Sun
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion

Some albums I keep meaning to get my hands on are Beirut's new one, British Sea Power's Man of Aran,

Loving new music from The Big Pink and Hot Sprockets.

Looking forward to new music by Cribs, Julian Plenti, Klaxons, Muse,
