well they have to do romulans yet

well they have to do romulans yet

They already kind of did that in 'Star Trek' (and 'Star Trek Nemesis'), although a proper fight against the Romulan Star Empire would be good.

Like many here, I would like a return of the classic bad-guy Klingons. These are the enemy that even non-trekkies know. With Berman and Co. finally out of the picture, perhaps Abrams and Co. can take what was a horribly wasted oppertunity with Enterprise, and actually make the Klingons to be a war-like race of warriors, at war!

'Enterprise' simply never went there. They'd feature the Klingons often, hint at their agressive nature, tease us with the chance of an actual war...and then go all TNG Klingon on us.

Thus, my vote is for real Klingons.

If it is the Borg, I will NOT being going to see it.

I can see it being the Klingons going to war, to get their hands on the planet destroying Red Matter Tech.

I know that the ship was destroyed but Spock is still there, with the knowledge

100% for Klingons. If you asked the general public to name a trek enemy, most would name the Klingons. I would like them to get a big revamp on screen. For a warrior race, it's amazing how pretty much any regular joe Starfleet officer can take them out using any given weapon.

Personally I'd like a new Villian, but one that is still within the Star Trek Universe.

I've always wanted to see the Husnock. As this timeline is before TNG (and there complete annihilation by that Douwd creature) and completely different to the known TOS, they could introduce them.

Their description seems perfect for a villian: "a species of hideous intelligence who knew only aggression and destruction."

    Klingon borg?

the blingon, they could be played by famous black rappers

Doomsday device would be cool but would be just like V'ger and Whale probe, in the previous movies

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,082 ✭✭✭lostexpectation

well atleast make it plural as in klingons rather then klingon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,182 ✭✭✭nyarlothothep

Klingons would be ok but it feel a bit prequely or like a retelling. I'd prefer a new alien race that would be original and entertaining, just the klingons were for TOS or the Borg for TNG.

Another Khan vote. (That or the Whales from the Voyager Home - make them killer whales :) )

I'd like to see them bring back one of the lesser-used races from TOS. The Gorn spring to mind but really there were a lot of races in TOS that made an impact in a single episode and were never subsequently reused.

Would give them some room to put their own spin on things, rather than using an established race (Klingons being the obvious choice) or, worse still, an established individual (Khan would be an extremely lazy choice, imo. He was in one episode and a single film... it seems like everything since has been billed as "the new Khan". Time to give up the ghost.).

Was there not a Gorn used fairly recently?
    In Enterprise, I think

In a mirror darkly. Part 1 or 2, can't remember which. Near the end of series 4. Two of the best Enterprise episodes IMO

Alternative timeline or not, I'd say it'd be too much of stretch to get the Borg into the story.

Plus - between First Contact, Voyager and that Enterprise episode, the Borg are done to death.

Perhaps but the Romulans I mean they are not very threatening but I would love to see a battle between a Galaxy and Romulan Warbird.

How about a movie with the Terran Empire battling everyone ;D

We had that in Enterprise, they were getting their ass kicked untill the USS Defiant came their way.
I imagine with that ship, they hammered everyone fairly easily.

Now a series/movie of Smiley O'Brien battling the Alliance, from Terok Nor, would be cool

The Dominion, altho only if they upgrade them to 2.0 so they look scarier with the Changelings and ruling the roost.

Major stretch in getting anyone from the other areas of the galaxy into the next movie

    Q Who?
    *groan*

I think that Voyager castrated the Q possibility.

I think that exploring TOS minor races is a good idea

There's a lot of species that could introduce them. The Q continuum, The Traveler, Nagilum, the Douwd... and lets not forget Sha Ka Ree

Regardless of who I want it to be though I've a feeling it's going to be the Klingons. It will introduce them to Star Trek n00bs and I wouldn't say no to some Federation versus Klingon space battles.

Please not the Q - this is the silliest idea ever introduced in Star Trek!

    Not anymore

I really think that you will see poast TNG tech in the next movie, from Spock, which will mean that all TOS races will be vastly outgunned

well if they are goin with kilgions then there faces will be different as remember they went threw that change in there race.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 160 ✭✭MetalDawg

Good point, although I've a feeling if they do go with Klingons as bad guys they'll make them post-augment rather than the TOS more humanoid looking ones.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,488 ✭✭✭Goodshape

There was a Klingon sub-plot cut from the Star Trek movie. Should make it's way to the DVD release.

After a quick search the only screenshot of them I could find is on this page, taken from one of the trailers : http://www.startrekmovie.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4186 ...and they're wearing full head and face helmlets :-/. The helmlets have ridges but I guess it's still up in the air whether the head's underneath do or not.

Hopefully we'll find out with the DVD. Sounded like a good sub-plot (
Nero gets captured by Klingons at some point during his long wait for Spock to come through from the future. He's sent to Rura Penthe and eventually escapes. It's during this time that he gets his ear chewed off by one of the Klingon dogs.
-- a better story than "I've just been hanging around for 20-odd years.")

Also.. as I've said before, I really hope they ignore that stupid genetic mutation story and just give us some decent looking Klingons. The only reason Klingons had ridges from The Motion Picture onwards, and not in TOS, was a ten year advancement in makeup effects and a bigger budget. End. Of. Story.

IMO it's akin to complaining about updated transporter effects, or that TOS didn't have the same "warp stretch" effect as ST:Enterprise. F'ing retarded.

    cheers metal head your right.

point being Im not a treky. well kinda but that was 10 years ago. when kirk was still in it.

I love kirk. anything with him in it was amazing.

now if the real trekies looked at the film really looked. at the end blam blam

its the end. wow that was amazing.

sorry Im a kirk fan and you could say treky but techically if kirks father died at the start of the film and that was not meant to happen.

then techically nothing the movie did or took place has noting to do with the star trek universe what so ever. the universe we grew up with.

it goes against ever single star trek law of time.

I like one where Kirk (pine) goes into the future to kill Janeway's mother to prevent us ever having to sit through 5 seasons of Voyager.
For even more entertainment he could kidnap Data..reprogram him to kill all women with the same name as Janeway..
hmm..an android killing mothers..why does that sound familiar? ;)

If it were one of those 3, it would have to be the klingons.
    The logic is simple:
The villain of the last movie was romulan.
The borg were the villains in every goddam TNG era movie, not to mention the fact that they were only 'discovered' by the humans in the TNG era, so unless they pull ANOTHER timetravel shtick, they're out too.
This leaves the klingons, who are totally played out and - let's face it - boring.
    That said, this guy
    It has to be Khaaaaaaannnnn!!!!!!
    is correct.
Word on the street is Khan will be recast as the villain in the second movie of the 'rebooted' era.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,182 ✭✭✭nyarlothothep

that would be terrible though, every trek film has had a megalomaniacal villain hellbent on destruction. Its just become boring and repetitive. They should try something different like maybe not having a central enemy at all

    federation civil war.
    With
    vulcan
gone there is enough turmoil and strife to make it possible.
Could end up with a reveal that the cardassian's were behind it

i think it would be really cool if the next movie had sisko as an admiral, janeway as a captain, and half jemhadar, half vulcan borg drones commanding the millenium falcon under the supervision of cylons in france.

there is a lot of scope to develop them in a alternate reality, and they are potentially a dangerous foe for the Federation
