Things You Must Do Before You Die!

So the other day I was studying for an exam and as always I procrastinated and I ended up writing a list of things to do before I die and I'm up to 69, no joke! :D And I just started to wonder, what everybody else thought thinks they must do before they die?

My top five (which I would be allowed to post!) are:
    1.Ride a bike naked.
2.Declare my love to a woman in a really public way.
    3.Save somebody's life.
4.Shoot a harpoon gun at something (or someone :D)!
    5.Start a secret society/cult!

Now if everybody could write between one and five things, we could piece them together and see what kind of a 'List' we get!

    3.Fight in a War.

5.Stay up for a week, without sleep.

1.) Explore a national park in New Zealand on horseback.
2.) Partake in a camel race.
3.) Talk face to face with my father (might be impossible, he could be dead and I really don't want to get into the business of gravedigging.)
4.) Live through a natural disaster.
    5.) Witness urban warfare first-hand.

I'm always hearing about the swimming with dolphins thing. I'd rather spend some time with chimpanzees. If you can teach a dolphin to swing on a rope and masturbate then maybe. But the chimps are way ahead.

Crash a gay wedding and then make a toast at it! :p

    1) Get a twin-jet license.
    2) Watch kid get married. (Requires having kid first)
    3) Lead men in a pitched battle. (It's what I've trained for, just the battles don't seem to be coming my way. Am trying in Afghanistan next month)
    4) Set foot in every continent. For longer than two weeks. (May be consequential to #1) Unsure about Antarctica.
    5) Publish book. Been in a few, just want one of my own.

    Fire a weapon,

I'd eventually like to have confidence in myself & be happy.

Other than that there's nothing really, I usually take each day as it comes.

If I'm meant to skydive/ swim with dolphins/ save someones life then I'm sure it will happen at some stage.

    * Did a skydive and admittedly nearly crapped myself when jumping through the plane door! LOL The thought "I must be fcuking mad" came instantly into my head as you can well imagine!
    * Dated more than one person at a time when a teenager. Not as much fun as it seems - its like juggling balls - keep it up long enough (no pun intended) and you drop one and get caught out!
    * Fired a weapon through legal means (thats all I can say about that)
    * I was a bold boy (14 at the time) one night and with cousins 'borrowed' some neighbours flowers. Chased by the Gardi!

I recently did an art piece based on a list of things to do before i die.
    here's the blurb:

    Aine Kavanagh
    Born Sligo 1987
    “The Collaborative Listage Movement”
    (Installation)

The work is based on a list of things to do before I die that I compiled when I was fifteen. This initiative aims to open a dialogue with the public surrounding the list and encourage the sharing of experiences. The list itself has been transposed onto a google map, with documentation and “how to” sections.

The ethereality of the balloon reflects the sometimes idealist nature of the list. To balance this, I incorporated a facility where people can “file away” slips of paper into a box labelled “Lost dreams and unachieved goals”. This action represents the acknowledgment of failings, while not being held back by them.

The list acts as a tracker for the whole of the human experience, documenting achievements in the persons time on earth.

I projected the google maps onto a 6 foot balloon, It was quite cool! must upload photos actually. Ps heres my list

The people who don't want an easy or comfortable life, are usually those that have such a life (and perhaps take it somewhat for granted). They don't realize how lucky they are, imo.

There's a difference between 'not boring' and 'traumatizing' .

I bet if you asked a tsunami survivor or a child soldier which they would rather do- live through their experiences again, or have a 'boring' comfortable life in Ireland, they would pick the latter a heartbeat.

They will certainly put your current easy lives into perspective. You can probably never appreciate what you have until you have a basis for comparison. These will certainly provide such. Is there any point in going through life without fully appreciating the nice bits for what they are?

I mean, I never truly appreciated the joys of sitting in a traffic jam until I came back from Basic.

Yeah, they have the life, and it bores them, and they want more, and they find it in the form of experiences that shape them violently, and that's fine. If this weren't the case, explain the people who go off to be soldiers, knowing it's a job that comes with fear, exhaustion, hunger, mental exhaustion and strain. There's nothing wrong with someone wanting to see the entire spectrum of the human experience. It teaches appreciation for the good bits of it.

    NTM

Pretty much exactly what I was going for. See it all, then love the good bits all the more, for knowing what the other side is really like. Someone who doesn't experience the worst can't appreciate the best to its fullest.
