There's a few of those around here, scruffy ones. Why somebody would spend that much on an old Micra and let it fall apart is beyond me.

these horrid little cars are based on the Micra....

I like 'em but they're ridiculously overpriced for an obsolete Micra in a dress...

    here is a nice one:

They're based on a Micra but because of the styling are often mistaken for classics and over-priced accordingly (€10kish!), these are 18 year old Nissans don't forget.

The ones I see regularly aren't very well looked after.

where would i get one to restore ,when i looked them up tonight it said there was 20,000 made between 91 n 92 i realy like them but i do agree they are way over priced

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,495 ✭✭✭Abelloid

There are 20 odd on carzone now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 551 ✭✭✭trevorbrady

    and 100+ on ebay.co.uk

the prices are a small bit better (before VRT) but still overpriced for what it is...

you'd buy a much nicer genuine classic mini, beetle, morris minor, 2CV etc for the same or less money than the Figaro that will keep its value a lot better and be easier to work on. Plus you'd have genuine classic car credibility, not a pastiche of same...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 65 ✭✭xxxevelinexxx

i know what you mean ,i have a moggie already ...i was thinking a beetle would be savage, your rite i could get a beetle maybe a 2000 for around 6000euro i think ????? for every day use .or a old style for 3000 or so

In fairness to them, theyre a nissan so they'll go for ever , auto, air-con etc...theyre not macho enough for most of us blokes  ..but i still think they might turn out to be collectable some years down the road..AND they'll be still in fairly good nick too...theyre already nearly twenty years old..:o..go for it..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,318 ✭✭✭✭carchaeologist

They are turbocharged too, definatly a car for the girls though.

I drive a Nissan Pao - another retro model from the 'Pike' team that brought out the Figaro. Figaro's fetch strong money, not because they're mistaken for classics, but because they are relatively rare, very practical to run, and offer a bit of style that is miles away from a twenty year old Micra - no one is manipulating the price of them - it's just what the market will/did bear. I'd have one in a flash if they came with a manual box (and I'm not a woman, gay or a hairdresser). Generally favoured by the ladies though alright.

GF's sister has an absolutely mint one. Very retro with a lovely interior.
I remember at the time, the VRT was mad on it, something like €3 or €4k.

Extremely overpriced overhere for a 91 Nissan. Im guessing that the design is a retro copy of the 1958 Autobianchi Bianchina
    Bianchina-1.jpg
and the figaro was originally a concept car at the 1989 Tokyo Motor Show.

There are two other retromobiles, the BE-1 and the S-Cargo built by Nissan using Micra parts.

don't forget the Mitsuoka View-T, another retro-styled beauty based on the poor old '90s Micra...

There's a fourth retro Nissan - the Pao.

The S-Cargo isn't Micra-based btw - the mechanics are from the Sunny.

I recently saw a little japanese car, possibly Nissan, that looked for all the world like a slightly smaller version of the old Austin 1100. It was even grey! Any ideas what it was?

Have to agree dude, they all deserve three hail mary's and a decade of the rosary!

On a side note, anyone know the term of endearment for the S-Cargo? First with the right answer gets a choc-ice!

what's that awful Mitsuoka Le Baron based on?

the View-T is just wrong wrong wrong and I like Figaros. There's just too much of the Micra visible. At least with the Figaro and Pao you can't see the Micra underneath.

I like those Subaru Sambars too and I own a proper VW van (albeit baywindow). If I *had* to own a city car, it'd be a Sambar ;)
However, like the Figaros, they're also horrendously overpriced

    Hey!

    I've an S-Cargo.

Not to everyone's taste, but it does its job very well - reliable, solidy built, distinctive, well-designed town delivery van.

Apparently this is the next generation micra according to a japanese motor magazine. On the bottom corner are a few other micra clones. The one missing is a Micra with a Fiat 500 front and rear.

and this 2009 Nissan Verita which is the 2nd generation Micra. Looks like an Austin 1100 from the front.
