I got a pair of Red Hudz from Wiggle in March.
Initially they looked great and feel great BUT after a few short weeks the colour in them has all but gone and now they are starting to look sh1t.
I have e-mailed Hudz themselves and sent the same e-mail to Wiggle.Wiggle replied almost immediatly with this

    "Thank you for your email.

Im afraid this can be put down to fair wear and tear, these will have been rubbed with your gloves and 'out in the elements' so unfortunately these all take affect on brake hoods.

    Regards"

Has anyone any experience withe the Hudz.I know Red isnt the best colour for staying Red but only a few weeks and not even summer weeks.Maybe I am expecting too much.
I have pics if I can figure how to post.

    Have you tried scrubbing them?

I know niceonetom has the white ones.

yeah I scrubbed them with cif but that only took the dirt off.The problem is the colour is fading by the day.
Can I copy and paste the actual pic form my desktop to here?

They're not faded, just out of focus :)

Ah, see what you mean now. That's not good, especially after a few weeks. I'd press it with Wiggle. I don't think its reasonable the 'ordinary wear and tear' should wreck a product within a matter of weeks.

You could try 'innocently' posting it on Weight Weenies too. The owner of Hudz posts there and might be shamed into making it up to you.

I did indeed have the white ones. Unfortunately they become permanently stained by things like human skin, gloves, air and direct sunlight. Half a bottle of cilit bang and elbow grease later I gave up on them. White is euro. Grey is ghey.

Pity. They looked fantastic until I opened the packaging.

UV damage on an outdoor product = not fit for purpose, full refund.

And I was thinking of getting hudz, both red and white. Not now.

TinyExplosions recently "instructed" me to get white Hudz for my bike. I set him straight and told him black was the only colour for brake hoods. I now feel smug and vindicated.

Well as Amy Cokehouse put it 'I'll go back to black'
    anyway I replied to Wiggle
"Thanks for your quick reply .
I am sorry but I fail to accept that this is normal wear and tear. The product has faded far beyond what I would expect in a few short weeks and due poor weather I havent even been on the bike a whole lot.
    Regards"

Did I!? I don't recall that.... either way, I have a set of pink ones sitting right here in front of me, along with some Cinelli Maglia Rosa tape, but it's not really garish enough to go with ms pinky :(

Use it to whip other riders when out on spins.

Ok.Just to keep you up to date with this.I got a reply from Hudz themselves.

'The only other case of such dramatic fading that has been brought to our attention was due to the degreaser used to clean the Hudz. With that in mind, we would be interested to know what cleaning product you have been using on your set of Hudz; we would like to get to the bottom of this to ensure that no others have such problems'

Aha. So what did you use?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,679 ✭✭✭bcmf

used a small amount of cif BUT that was last week and the fading had begun well before that.

ok just to keep you up to date I got a reply from Lance in Hudz via weight weenies. He offered to replace my Hudz and wanted me to send back my faded ones so they can examine them.

    Result.

Oh, and I'd let Wiggle know that even Hudz themselves don't seem to think this is normal wear and tear.
