    Hi All,

What's the best way to treat a shoulder injury.

I was playing tag last night and took a fall onto my left shoulder. Now I'm sitting here in pain, its a constant sort of pain but when I move it gets more painful.

I suppose heat and cold should do it ? How does that work?

    Regards.

Are you sure its muscle pain? Collar bones are notiorously easy to break and arent that bad on teh scale of things, ive broken mine 3 times already

  • Yea, im positive it muscle pain. Its happened before, im just trying to figure out if there is something i can do to quicken the healing process.
I have an ice pack at home.
I have it in my head that you apply heat then cold and so on just not sure exactly what to do.

hi cardio, shoot me ive broken my colar bone 3 times too!!

scolari you should ice it and go to a physio or doctor.

If its nothing to serious they'll be able to advise you on the quickest way to recover, if it is serious they're the only ones that can help

Three joints in the shoulder and a shed load of ligaments along with stabilizing muscles and it could be one or all. Chances are you have not broken anything but don't quote me on that! More than likely you have stressed the AC joint ligaments (top of shoulder) and/or the glenohumeral ligaments (ball and socket area). You may have also stressed the rotator cuff muscles (4 deep lying muscles that help stabilize and initiate shoulder movement). Rest the shoulder and only apply ice (15mins every hour max) for the next day or two. No hot treatments until any possible swelling has decreased. If pain persists after 4 or 5 days you may need an x-ray/scan - a visit to the local therapist may be needed. Hope this can be of help.
