Night club in Dublin.

Some years ago i found an old nightclub flyer where i used to live.It appears to date from the 70s and is for a club called Zhivagos(as in the film) on lower Baggot St,Dublin.Anyone remember it or know anything about it?

It was good for its day. I only caught the end of its life (around '86-'87). At Baggot St at the Quinnsworth.

It was advertised on the back of nearly every bus for years also Lugs Brannigan finished out his working days there as senior doorman.

I'm nearly sure it was where I went to after my Debs.. long long time ago!

I was 16 at the time, think I remember there being a lot of ranting about having to pay £2 and you got a can of coke handed to you over the bar, to mix with the vodka in the magic handbags!

Ok place, your normal soggy carpet poxy dance floor kinda place!

Never heard of the one OP refers to... but I found this on Google.. My Mother used to frequent this place in her hay day

Zhivagos was in Baggot Lane over the H.Williams/Quinnswoth store. It was a cool enough place and had an excellent snooker room. Spent many an evening there, at one stage it was the in place to be. Further down the lane was a club called Barbarellas and it was a better club by far. In the 80s the Apartment and Bubbles clubs kinda took over and the likes of Zhivagos died off. Happy memories of the place though

farily sure the catch phrase was "here love stories begin".

that's what you call honest advertising .. no mention is made of the end of said love story, which could have een a few hours later ... nowadays they'd say "where _eternal_ love stories begin"

Advert for Zhivagos at the 1:52 mark. This must be pretty rare. Strange to see an ad for a Dublin nightclub on a UTV adbreak at the height of the Troubles.
