Well it looks like my starting strength programme is coming to an end. I've failed on everything now except the bench press. So what's next? To be honest, I'm starting to get bored of it anyway, so I might change around for a few weeks. I was thinking of doing the attached. I'm going to use the starting strength format, but just use the three big lifts (Bench, Squat, and Deadlift). I'm going to still tip away at getting them up, and add in assistance work as well.

    Sunday: Chest, Shoulders & Triceps.
    Tuesday: Thighs & Calves.
    Thursday: Back & Biceps.

I'm going to start the weight below what I was lifting, and work it up every session.

    Well, good decision, bad decision?

Sorry what do you mean by the programme coming to an end? You don't want to do it anymore? You've done pretty well so far I don't see why you would quit. You've not failed, just hit a little bump. Don't increase the weight for a few days, especially if you're failing (on the reps that is) / struggling.

Are you drinking your 4 litres of milk per day? SS is hard quite hard on the body, you need to be getting some significant nutrition.

Having done starting strength myself my 2cent's would be it's bad. I don't understand why you are going from a fully body compound movement based program to a bodypart split full of isolation movements.

First of all how many reset's did you work through? If you only worked up to one you probably haven't exhausted the progression of the program yet. Example I first stalled on the press at 42.5kg, my second reset I stalled at 52.5kg so I had a big gain there sticking with the program until another reset.

A logical choice once you're done progressing with SS would be the Texas Method still in the Mark Rippetoe/Bill Starr domain. You can find some details of this program on the SS wiki http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/The_Texas_Method. The exercises aren't set in stone in this program just how you progress so you could add some new exercises here if you want to spice it up and bring some fun back to the program. I'm not doing this program at the moment but I had this planned for myself if I ever do adding some olympic movements to make it fun for me.

    Volume:
    squat 5x5
    press 5x5
    dead 1x5

    Recovery:
    fsquat 3x3
    bench 3x5
    osquat 3x3 or snatch practice
    pullups

    Intensity:
    Squat 1x3,1x2,1x1
    Press 1x3,1x2,1x1
    Clean 1x3,1x2,1x1

(That's 1x3 one week, 1x2 the next then a 1RM test the third week and continue the cycle)

Like I said before, I'm just starting to get bored with it. I just want a change for a while. I will go back to it again in a few weeks and reset at -10%/-15%.

Isn't a change in routine supposed to be good for the body???

I know what you mean I was starting to get bored of SS a little near the end also. Sure a change of a routine will be good for you especially mentally. I just wasn't a fan of the routine you attached. I'll let the other's weigh in with their thoughts.

Of course I'm assuming you haven't been there.

    Had you prior experience lifting?

I've been tipping away since I was about 17. Nothing major though. I'm 29 now.
