Bradley Cooper is likely to be the new Face of "The A-Team".

"The A-Team" will be a big screen adaptation to the NBC's popular '80s TV series of the same name. Joe Carnahan has been appointed to direct the film as well as to polish the Skip Woods' script along with writer Brian Bloom. Earlier, IESB insisted Common was considered for the role of B.A. Baracus. "The A-Team" itself may begin its production sometime in June this year for a June 11, 2010 release.

Let's hope this A-team have a better aim than their predecessors!

I thought this film was permanently stuck in developmental hell. By 2010, the 80s nostalgia may have died off and we'll be on to 90s nostalgia.

    Do you mean quashed?

A-Team origin movie is the only way to go. How do they get kick ass skills? How do they have endless funds? Why has Colonel Decker got a boner for them? Why has BA got so much gold..........endless questions can be answered with this film but I'll bet they make another fcuking Starsky and Hutch.

    yes I did.:o

also it won't be another Starsky and Hutch. A-Team director is Joe Carnahan.
    he does gritty, not sh*tty.

Terry Tate needs to bring the pain in this though as Baracus.

Asked and answered. They've been pawning his gear over the years. And besides, they all graduates of the McGyver School Of Imaginary Engineering anyway.

    From rte.ie
Irish actor Liam Neeson is in negotiations to play Colonel John 'Hannibal' Smith in the film version of TV classic 'The A-Team'.

Variety says that film studio 20th Century Fox wants the blockbuster in production by late August for a June 2010 release.

Earlier, the Hollywood Reporter confirmed that 'The Hangover' star Bradley Cooper is in talks to play Lieutenant Templeton 'Faceman' Peck in the Joe Carnahan-directed adventure.

    Liam Neeson is interesting casting...

"ach... sure I love it when a plan comes together, so I do"

    Bradley Cooper Works.

I'd actually go for Mr T (he hasn't really aged) for BA, I don't think anyone else can play that part.

    Jim Carey for Murdoch

As an alternate for Liam Neeson - Gary Oldman

    ...& I liked Starsky & Hutch !!

I had heard before that Ice Cube was strongly linked with the role of BA, now it appears that it may go to Common.

Terry Crewes is the logical choice for BA. He can do comedy and his role in the upcoming Expendables shows that he can also handle action.

the way some sites are reporting it is that the director wants Neeson but there are no negotiations yet

also Neeson is a monster of a man so won't Baracus have be much bigger than him

Isn't this film supposed to be nothing like the actual A-Team, but it's just more a "what if" the story to the A-Team was real (instead of handled so cartoonishly).

To be honest, you can never, ever replace the original A-Team. The smugness of Hannibal as he would be captured by the enemy, be tied up and at near death, yet still cracking jokes all the while. No one will be able to do that the way he did it. The A-Team film is one that I will go and watch, but I can guarantee it will be a major disappointment on all fronts for anyone who has ever enjoyed the TV Series.

As someone who has watched every episode of the A-Team numerous times, I can honestly say that replacing the cast wont work. It'd be like an Only Fools And Horses film. You can't just take Del Boy out of it and put someone else in his place. It wont work.

Ridley Scott to produce the A-Team movie ?

Liam neeson would nail the hannibal role (a la 'Taken'). I hope it is a re-invention - with blood and an 18+ cert and not some U or G rated barrel roll car and 1000 AK bullets and no one gets hurt kind of effort.

    My vote :

    Liam neeson = Hannibal
    Leonardo di caprio = Face
    Jack black = Murdock
BA = Michael Clarke Duncan (green mile)

    (Crosses fingers!!!)

Liam Neeson is in talks with movie bosses to star in the upcoming big screen version of 'The A-Team'.

The 'Schindler's List' actor has reportedly been lined up to play John 'Hannibal' Smith, the role made famous by George Peppard in the hit 1980s television show.

He is currently in negotiations with 20th Century Fox and producers Tony and Ridley Scott to appear in the movie about four war veterans who escape from a prison to become vigilantes.

The Hangover star Bradley Cooper was recently rumored to be taking on the role of Lieutenant Templeton 'Faceman' Peck, originally played by Dirk Benedict, but he has since denied the claims.

The roles of Captain 'Howling Mad' Murdock and Sergeant 'BA' Baracus have yet to be cast, but rapper-turned-actor Common is rumored to be in the running for Mr T's iconic role.

Production for the film is due to begin in late August for release next year

Not really. In the 80's show Hannibal and Murdock were both taller than BA.

I like Liam Neeson but I can't see him playing Hannibal. I don't think I've ever heard him doing an American accent, much of his appeal is his deep Norn Iron voice. I like the idea of Jim Carey as Face but I have a feeling that he'd command to high an asking price. Also, the idea of this movie as a "serious" film like Miami Vice just wouldn't work. It'd have to be a bit tongue in cheek like Starsky & Hutch. The TV series was always a bit tongue in cheek with 1000s of bullets flying everywhere and nobody getting shot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

i personally think its an inspired choice. I think he's a very strong actor and as we've seen in taken can still play bad ass imo.

As for the accent, i think we'd have to get over it cause i've never really seen him hide hs accent. Bruce willis would prob have been my first choice but on the flip side the film would have to become a "Bruce Willis film" if you know what i men.

Ving Rhames is the only person for Mr T. The only person. He would kick ass.

Ving Rhames is the only person for Mr T. The only person. He would kick ass.

I would agree about Ving Rhames. He has sent himself up before in movies like Chuck and Larry and won't take the role too serious.

I really like Neeson but I've never seen him doing tougue and check before in a movie. His roles are always serious afaik.

For Hannibals role, I think Michael Chiklis (The Shield) would be good. Kiefer Sutherland would be even better!

There was talk of Quinton "Rampage" Jackson playing BA but I think that was knocked on the head, he would have been a real BA in it. I can only see this being a let down, but sure we will watch it anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55 ✭✭Surly

Would love to see Rampage playing BA; he's a good match charisma- and physique-wise.

Sam Rockwell gets my vote for Murdock.

Michael Weatherly from NCIS would be my choice as Face

i think neeson is a bad choice to play hanibal , cant see him fitting the role at all

    heres my line up

    hanibal = george clooney
    face = rob lowe
murdoch = jim carey , although he may be too big a star to share joint lead
BA = ice cube or ving rhames

Most of those questions are answered by
Ten years ago, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The A-Team.
    The "crime they didn't commit"
During the Vietnam War, the A-Team's commanding officer, Colonel Morrison, gave them orders to rob the Bank of Hanoi to help bring the war to an end. They succeeded in their mission, but on returning to their base four days after the end of the war, they found their C.O. murdered by the Viet Cong and his headquarters burned to the ground. Therefore no proof existed that the A-Team were acting under orders, and they were sent to prison by a military court. They were sent to Fort Bragg, from which they escaped before they could actually stand trial.

Rumours are that the film willl star Bradley Cooper, Common, Bruce Willis and Liam Neeson. If thats true then I'm assuming that Willis will be filling Pepperd's shoes and Neeson will be the new Dwight Schultz.

If they plan on keeping murdoch a completely insane character then Matt Frewer would be perfect.

Terry Tate is first choice for BA, but here is another contender

he was in episode 1 of Occupation on BBC 1 on Tuesday.
he might be in episode 2 tonight but I'm not sure he survived

    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1996829/

    he looks HUGE

+ 1 Matt Frewer as Murdoch - excellent choice

Rapper The Game is reportedly in the running to play Sgt. Bosco "BA" Baracus in the A-Team movie.
Citing a "highly reliable source in the entertainment industry", website Blackfilm has claimed that The Game, real name Jayceon Taylor, is being lined up to take on the role made famous by Mr T in the popular '80s TV series. Common and Tyrese Gibson have previously been rumoured for the part.
The Game, 29, has acted in the 2006 film Waist Deep and last year's Keanu Reeves police drama Street Kings.
The A-Team is scheduled to being production in August under the direction of Joe Carnahan. Liam Neeson will play Col. John "Hannibal" Smith, while The Hangover's Bradley Cooper has signed up to star as Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,588 ✭✭✭JP Liz

Yes, District 9 is a theatrical hit, and now its 35-year old unknown lead Sharlto Copley is joining the Hollywood big leagues. Twentieth Century Fox confirms that the South African Copley will play the goofy oddball pilot H.M. “Howling Mad” Murdoch in Twentieth Century Fox’s remake of The A-Team from director Joe Carnahan. Also, joining the cast of Liam Neeson (Col. John “Hannibal” Smith), Bradley Cooper (Lt. Templeton “Face” Peck), and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (B.A. Baracas) is Jessica Biel who will portray an ex-flame of Faceman’s. Watchmen’s Patrick Wilson will also be featured as a CIA operative. While the premise of Carnahan’s A-Team will still center on four war vets wrongly convicted of a crime they didn’t commit, the tone will be less silly and more slick. Production has already begun on the Vancouver-based set with the high-octane actioner set to bow next June.
