Is this HIIT?

    Hi,
For fat loss Ive started to incorporate Hill Sprinting as HIIT.

I picked a pretty steep long hill.
I did 5 sprint intervals with 2 mins rest after each interval. For each sprint interval of 20 -25 secs (and for part of the rest time) my HR was up to 95% of max. I followed with a cool down of a few mins with a total time of 15 - 20 mins. After the 5th sprint I was absolutely wrecked with my legs screaming. I intend to build up to 10 intervals @2 mins rest at which point I propose to bring the rest times b/w intervals down.

Does this constitute HIIT and if so how many times a week should I do it and will it be beneficial for fat loss?

    Thanks

    Hey

You kind of have the idea except imo i would call what you are doing interval training but more intense. it sounds like it's stuck between interval and high interval.

For HIIT i would increase the time of sprinting all out closer to a minute then back down for 2 minutes follwed again by a minute rather than 20-25 sec.

However it's all relative to your fitness level so to you this may be more HIIT that interval.
