So, I was chatting with Gavin/Verb and he mentioned that the christmas drinks was such good fun that it was a shame to wait until next christmas before meeting up for a few.

Also, if the weather improves in the coming weeks then we can make use of some of the beer gardens around town, chatting about bikes and whatever other lesser interests are pursued.

Oh and for those of you who missed it, Blorg should be making a repeat performance of his hilarious slow motion fall, so bring your cameras!

Time and date TBC depending on what suits the masses.

Open to all of course, but it will probably be a Dublin location

I'm pretty sure I have forgotten to mention something...

Great idea - i didn't make it to xmas drinks due to child minding. Would love to go to this one.
How about night of or week after WW200, as an idea to think about?

What else is there to mention ? Boose in Dublin, let's do it.

Definitely up for this post-W200 (Tiny organised post W200 drinks last year, so this is practically tradition:D).

I was only briefly at Christmas drinks and had to exit to help with sick baby at home, so would love to sit around over beer and talk bikes for a few hours. My friends will be grateful also if it means I stop talking to them about cycling.

    Post-3O May, I'm in.

Ok, so the week following the W200, plenty of stories to swap, etc. (8th-14th June)

So are people partial to midweek post-work drinks or head in for late afternoon on the 13th?

I am available for anytime, friday evening would be my first pick though. What was Tiny's arrangement last year?

My wife (who isn't Irish) says there are only two seasons in Ireland. Winter and Christmas.

Hey, at least it's not feet and finger numbingly cold out. No ice either!

    Did I organise post ww200 drinkies? I don't remember!

Any night is good for me, and I'll suggest the Church, as it's got a nice outdoor space that large enough for everyone, and it was where we had the Christmas Drinkies :)

A Saturday would probably be best for us country folk as we could stay over in the big city.

Oh great, I'm sure you will be lots of fun on the friday, sitting in the corner sobbing about being dropped again (I kid! I was telling LDB on saturday when you sent her down on her lonesome what a legend of a cyclist and euro-model I thought you were!)

Sounds like saturday is getting the vote.

@Lafors: We will see what happens, obviously whatever date is finally picked will not suit everyone.

I'm not sure what happens next, leave this thread simmer for a while or go straight for the poll on dates?

Saturday from 7.00pm in The Church.

I think we just need to make a decision on this.

    I'll be there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,920 ✭✭✭Vélo

    Probably on my own:(

Sounds good to me. At least one item of cycling clothing is essential. I'll be in my white Adidas bibshorts.

I was going to suggest we do the Dublin City Cycle on Wednesday 17th June and go for a couple after that. But it is a Wednesday.

    Count me in.

@Penexpers: Sure we can do that too, it's not like we are limited to one boards arranged night out per year, or are we?

I think we will need an epic spin on Saturday to prepare for this, maybe a Boards 200. I was going to do the REK 400 but reckon that might expose me to too much risk of injury with the Marmotte coming up in only a few weeks.

I'll put this suggestion down to an over-developed sense of humour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,860 ✭✭✭TinyExplosions

I'm in for the drinks, out for the epic... just back from Doc, and he reckons it's just a sprain, and anti-inflammatories will do the job, but if not better in a week to get it MRI'd. Have to stay off the bike for a week though to give it chance to heal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,901 ✭✭✭lukester

God no. A decent spin would be fun, but not a Boards 200, isn't that like a W200 turned up to 11?

It's like the W200 but with more climbing and all the flat bits taken out. There will be a B100 run on the same day.

It's a week away for God's sake, you will all be well recovered and itching to get back to Wicklow.

I shall remotely join ye by proxy from the shores of Lake Como, Italy, where I shall mostly be drinking Prosecco and eating fabulous olives, pastas and breads. But I won't rub it in about the high-20s temperature and the sunshine.

I'll be making my way back from a Friday wedding in Letterkenny on Saturday afternoon to make it to group catch-up of the participants of the Martin Codyre Fight Night. Think Martin said it would be in the Pav or something like that with the fights replayed on screen. So I gotta make that but would defo like to make the boards do for at least a few pints at some stage that night.

Are you set on The Church? Where's that? Not sure if the rumours I'd heard that the Pav now only serve current TCD students is true. If not, what better location could a bunch of boardsie want for soaking up the sun I'll confidently predict and taking a perch in what is essentially Ireland's largest beer garden?

Ditto, but from Brittany in my case, with cider and crepes featuring prominently.

    Enjoy the pints folks.

guess i will be there too. why the church? it is the building with the most "no bikes" signs in dublin, wait, bring a screwdriver and bring home a little memmento. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,505 ✭✭✭✭DirkVoodoo

Am I going crazy? I thought I titled this summer drinks? Some clever mods-manship methinks, makes more sense.

Is anyone cycling in? I would of course have only one or two (like last time) if I did, but I was thinking if others are heading in then I could leave the lock at home and just mooch off someone else.

Might just get the bus *shudder*

I hope to make it in. I'll be the one with the complete opposite of a cyclist's ideal build.
