As an ex-Crunch customer I'd probably advise you to play dumb!

Seperate staff. The cleaning staff dress like waiters and waitresses. The place is kept very clean. I think their "hook" is the lavishness of their decor. The instructors were pretty poor, one of them asked me what I meant by "a spot" one time.

No squat racks. DB's up to 30kg. Those rubber plates (not bumpers the cheap rubber coated ones) and if you want to lift more than 200kg you may want to get some children to hang out off the bar cos you aren't making it out of plates!

You fcukin serious? They must be just handing out those instructor certs to anyone like. On a separate note, who are they? As in, what body actually qualifies people as fitness instructors?

Hmmm tempting Funnily enough know a few instructor that don’t like lifting where they work

There are a lot of people that hand out certificates but only a hand full are really recognised by the mainstream of the industry , I did mine with the NTC

    sorry just saw this now.
You probably did it and i would expect its just like any other interview.

When i was hiring i always hired for enthusiasm, energy and passion as i did not mind if the knowledge was great as i could always teach that. The other traits you CANT train for.

They are well structured gyms and do well but use it as a spring board towards long term goals. Go and meet with the people face to face that are doing what you want to do and find out how they have become successful, then just copy!

Well it went ok , I could of done better (I think I would be saying that no matter how well it went) We had a bit of a chat , I was given a couple of scenarios and asked what I would prescribe for the client , i was asked about my class experience ( I was very honest about that after all no point in lying and then being expected to take an advanced class on my first day) then I was asked to set up a spin bike , that went ok’ish ,it’s been a while since I was near a spin bike but I managed it. After that I was asked to come back on Monday and do a 15 minute spin class and some abs work . Given the last time I was near a spin bike was when i did the course I am planning on spending tonight and tomorrow boneing up (and ringing around the local clubs to see if I can catch a pay as you go spin class) . I have been teaching part’s of two local class an adult hip hop and circut class, mainly the ab’s section of the hip hop class and the circuit's part of the circuit's class so I am some what experienced at taking classes ( I have been told that I am relativity good for some one new to the industry , I think a lot of that comes from the fact I used to do stand up so I am used to being in front of a crowed and inter acting with them)

So guy's any advice would be greatly appreciated :D

They are. I knew more than my tutor in college ffs.

I haven't set foot in a gym for months though due to ultra and marathon training and not working in them anymore, now I'm injured though and need to do some serious strengthening work if I want to continue running so I'll be back in the heat of things. It's scary how quickly you can lose your basic knowledge of things when you're not using it anymore. The physio asked me to show her how I'd stretch my ITB the other day and I stood there dumbfounded trying to remember how to stretch the ITB.

Here ya go, these are all available from Spinning.com, but grouped together in one place below, from chatting I think these would be good to cover together with the NTC course notes you have...

Spinning Program Science (Cycling Efficiency / Pedal Stroke) [PDF]

'Keep it Safe' (Avoiding contraindicated movements) [PDF]

    Bike Setup (Spinner Bikes) [PDF]
This is for the official Spinner Bikes, made by Star Trac... I don't think Crunch have these ones but it will add some info to the notes for other Indoor Cycling bike setup you should have from your notes...

    Core Movements [PDF]
The base moves in the Spinning programme. Also you can check out one of the Master Instructors video's here...
Josh Taylor (Master Instructor) Video footage [LINK]

Stay hydrated yourself, and encourage the participants to stay hydrated during (and after) the class [PDF]. Remember to put your towel behind you (hopefully on the bike you use there is something to hang it over), this is to allow your participants clearly see your hand position.

There are some music resources available too, with suggestions for tracks to use, build a profile with a goal (e.g. strength, interval, endurance...) based on the core moves and transitions around the tracks chosen
    Weekly Playlists [LINK]

The real key to Spinning is using the Energy Zones together and heart rate monitoring [LINK]... however it is challenging if fellow instructors haven't been presented with the benefits of this approach or it isn't being consistently applied across the timetable

Lastly, for the future, here's details on the (official) Spinning qualification two day clinic that is organised over the year:
    Spinning Instructor Training (Clinic)

    All the best.
