    Hi,

I have just recently started training with Bootcamp Ireland after about three years of minimal exercise and I have started to have a soreness on the sides of my heal/ankle on both feet.

Just wondering if it has happened to anyone else, what you did and if it's common? I'm guessing that it has something to do with my lack of exercise and now maybe doing too much too soon?

Could be an imbalance in your ankles or feet. Or your arches dropped.
Do you walk/run with your toes pointed out?

I had some big trouble with this a few years back. I went to a Podiatrist and got orthotic insoles.
    Two suggestions.

Go to a Chiropodist/Podiatrist, who does gait analysis.

    Or

Go to one of those training shoe shops that does specialised trainers.
Dont know any names, maybe somebody else might know....

Ditto on the gait analysis. If you have a tendency to run on one side of your foot, you need a shoe that will compensate for that.

    Thanks for the replys.

I'll look to get one of them gait analysis things done so. I kinda thought after I was used to training again it would settle down (like what happened my leg muscles) but it seems to be getting worse into the third week now and the day after I have a hard time walking comfortably.

Strange as when I was growing up I was able to wear anything on my feet incl the cheapest runners available and run all day etc with no problem. Does it only effect adults?

I only started having problems at 21.
You become less supple as you get older.
    I reckon thats probably it.

Dont ignore it, the right shoe will help your running as well as protect your foot. I busted my ankle because I wore a good shoe, but one that didnt suit me, when I started running a while ago. It stopped me training for 6 weeks.
