    Hi

Im 12st 3lbs at the minute, I have dropped from 12st10lbs since bout the start of April. Im just looking to see if anyone has any advice on what sort of exercise I should be doing to get rid of the extra fat(love handles) and to build up the muscle instead. I am im the gym maybe 2/3 times a week doing bit of Cardio and weights.

Im on a diet at the minute to try shed the pounds before building up. Is this a good idea to lose the weight before muscle building or to work on both at the same time? Overall my diet isnt bad but I would like to know exactly what I should be doing in the gym.

What sort of weight exercises would people recommend to basically build the core muscles to get rid of the love handles? also what would be the best arms exercises as I would like some variety of Exercises so not doing same thing all the time.

I have also been looking at getting some Whey protein, does anybody know which would be the best to help with my goal? What would people recommend?

    Any info appreciated lads
    Cheers

Well done on your progress to date, you seem to be right on track. Could you send on your routine including exercise, sets, reps, rest between sets and how long you do cardio for. The only thing I would recommend from what you have stated so far is insted of 2-3 sessions make that 3 sessions definite, more if you can.

You should look closely at your diet as it may or may not be as good as you think. Im not saying its probably bad but there is nothing worse than wasting so much time and effort to discover that cetain foods / nutritional habits have been preventing you from achieving your goals. If you would like to post that people here could give you some basic pointers to start.

Before you do any of that though read the stickies as they provide you with a lot of good info on how to improve on your diet and training.

Whey is a very goos supplement but post up your diet first and then see where you can supplement.

Lose fat or put on muscle first: your call. You can do both at the same time or focus on one for a few weeks. I would prioritise it. For example if I wasnt happy with the amount of muscle mass I had and the amount of body fat I would prioritse. Ok I may want more muscle but the excess fat is really annoying. So go with fat loss first. Tailor it to your situation. At 12 stone 3 you are probably good to do either.

One good book I recommend is one that I had forgotten about until one poster here reminded me of it, its http://www.burnthefat.com/

If you are going to purchase any of them, go with that as its really good, but as I said the stickies are packed full of info also.

    Best of luck

Is there any way you can make it to the gym more often? If you are potentially only going * 2 per week your diet would need to be 100% !!! clean to see real results ...

thanks for the comments guys. Yeah I am definately trying to get up to the gym more often just past couple of weeks been bit busy with work and college. I play astro twice a week now too so have to take that into consideration as well. My diet is actually a new diet that I have started since April which is the Herbalfie diet as it has helped other people I know lose weight, so I thought this would be good to help me start off the weight loss and it has. I am now determined to stop this meal replacement shake diet when all of it is finished should be in two weeks or less and start just with a healthy low carb diet.

Can anybody give me some nice snacks that could be eaten between meals?? Thats where I tend to struggle as I need different options to snack on. People say nuts and seeds but I absolutely hate the taste of both of them and cant stand eating them.

Basically while on this Herbalife I am taking a shake in the morning, maybe bit of fruit or yoghurt at bout 11, shake at lunch and proper dinner of something like chicken/fish/meat with some potatoes and carrots and onions. That would be a typical day at the min. or sometimes I tend to switch the meal with shake for lunch just for a change now and again.

Yeh I have heard that whey is very good and I was thinking of stopping the Herbalife diet within the next few weeks and taking this Whey protein and trying to lose the weight on my own new structured diet plan and exercise but I just needed a little help on what to eat and which exercises would be the best.

I dont really have a structured gym plan but mainly tend to spend about 20mins cardio, 5-10mins stretch, weights and then core. Weights normally do 3sets with 10reps depending on the weight and exercise. Can you advise me on this? Looking for types of exercise that would help build the core muscles to get rid of the extra weight. I am determined to get rid of this extra weight and hopefully build the muscle mass too.

Thanks again for the help guys any info or comments great appreciated.

You could throw an upper body weights session on one of the days you go to astro.

What do people think of that?
Im think of trying this one myself.
