    Hey ladies,

Just back from getting my first brazilian in nearly a year and im kinda disappointed! Does anyone know exactly how much the beautician is meant to take off/leave? Cause ive been left with a good bit of ahem...hair down there, and i have the proper landing strip, but i thought the landing strip was the only bit thats meant to be left....

Waste of 35 quid me thinks!

Depends what you asked for, I guess... did you tell her exactly how much you wanted off and where you wanted it from?

Well i told her how i wanted the landing strip cause i assumed from previous waxes they take everything else off...

Yeah, you have to be really explicit about what you want cos so many places do it differently... not sure you can do anything, maybe go back and tell them you're not happy? They might fix it for you for free as a goodwill gesture, not like places can afford to lose custom these days.

I'd say though in future to be embarrassingly explicit about what you want off!

Yeah think i'll definitly be doing that in future- thanks for the advice!;)

€35 would be a bargain for a Barzilian to be honest.
Are you sure it wasn't just an extended Californian you had done?

Most places charge €55 minimum for a brazilian.

Yeah it sounds like she just did your bikini line!

What a pity :( When i work up the courage each time to go i jut want to get it done and over with.Pity you are disappointed? maybe you should go back so you can get it fixed and not pay as much?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,673 ✭✭✭Miss Fluff

Yes it's just supposed to be a landing strip and everything else gone. Sounds like you just had a standard bikini or extended bikini wax done. Bar the landing strip you should be completely bare

Also thought 35 was cheap.. you get what u pay for, mine is 55 always has been in and around 50..

Yeah i must admit 35 is a bargain- it wasn't an official salon i went to though, it was a girl i found on the internet. The wax itself was done really well and she used the organic peeling wax stuff, but she just seemed to ignore the bits around the "lips" if you get me:rolleyes: Its too late to go back and get it fixed now. Guess ill just have to be more firm and direct next time..

Sounds to me like you had a californian which is in essence an extended bikini line. The price seems verry cheap for a brazilian. I mean even with a 30% discount at my spa thats what i would end up paying for that...

Sorry to pull this thread up but i had to update you guys with what happened today- I went back to the waxing place this morning and the owner came in to wax me, the last time it was a young asian girl. I told her very precisely that i wanted everything taken off except the landing strip, and asked was it the same price (35 euro) incase the girl gave me the wrong wax last time. She said yes and started to wax. Im very fair so she kept commenting on how i was "baby like", and then called another chinese girl into the room to show her- in which the chinese girl pulled my underwear aside and gasped at my *ahem* lady garden. Anyway the woman kept waxing away and she kept doing the bit where the landing strip should be so i reminded her again that i wanted a brazilian but she totally ignored me and took evrything off!

At thsi stage i started to get really unsettled and just said to leave it be- meaning the 5 hairs she left me with. It was such a horrible experience, ive been getting waxes for years and i have never seen another person enter the room and pull my underwear aside to 'have a look'...its so violating!

Anyways i think i'd rather pay full price for a wax then to go through that again...does anyone know if there is a way to report the salon anonomously? The place is basically an apartment with an area cordoned off for waxing. So dodgy and i feel awful now :(

If you have not got the conviction to give your name when you are complaining about a product/service then do not bother. I think it is a very cowardly thing to do

Ah here, the poor girl has to complain about getting her bits waxed for goodness sake, it's not really something that anything wants to put their name to very readily (and before anyone points out that she's posting it up here for all and sundry to see lets not forget she has the anonymity of a username).

It was a really embarassing and uncomfortable experience. I am merely looking for advice- not to be called a coward but thanks for your opinion.

I would make a serious complaint to the owner, in writing, that is disgraceful behaviour absolutely awful.

As for JonnyCs ridiculous comment, well its just that..

    Well Ginny

Can you make a serious complaint in writing with giving you name/address. I do not think so. What was so ridiculous about my comment? I just said if you can not give your name to a complaint do not bother...

Well instead of writing a letter- is there any way i can talk to someone to see if this waxing place has a licence or if the therapists are even qualified, because IMO both times i was there they didnt do the job properly, they have waxing pots but it doesn't look like a normal salon at all.. Its probably my own fault going back for the second time but i really am upset about what happened and want to do something about it.

I doubt that there is any sort of Regulator for Beauty Therapists (given that more important areas of life like Solicitors or Estate Agents self regulate). Given the fact that it sounds like an amateurish outfit - I doubt that they are signed up for any self-regulated type scheme anyway. Really the only person you could possibly complain to is the owner - by phone or in writing.

For pure malice you could of course shop them to the Revenue and the local County Council Rates Office - but that is vengance rather than seeking a resolution.

She shouldn't have called anyone else in without your consent. But I'm confused, you had your knickers on for a brazilian?

Why do you want to complain them anonymously..... I wouldn't care if they knew who I was. I would have given out then and there! How dare she bring a second person in and expose your mary like that!!!

I always have my knickers on for a brazilian they usually just move it to one side.

Shit. Title-tricked again. I had so much to share :pac:

On topic: Always knickers off for a good brazilian :)

Oh god!! That ordeal sounds awful... You definitely should report them... or at least name & shame the salon to make sure none of your friends goes there.

I used to go to salons to get my bits waxed regularly, but with the big R I do it at home now (with a large glass of wine).

not rubbing it in , but did you go to a place like that on your own ? dont want to sound like miss told you so but a lot of these places have wall to wall creeps.

I'm sure that licensing practices and regulations vary by location, but I know that when I go into a spa for a wax treatment, I look to see if their license is displayed. It often is, and if it isn't, they shouldn't have a problem showing it to you.

I've been to a few places where they give you a paper thong when getting a brazillian and they move it around while waxing. Personally I think it's annoying. They are waxing your labia and butt crack, they will see everything down there. What difference does it make if they see it all at once or bit by bit?

I have to say I had no idea waxing was so expensive in Ireland. I thought €35 was steep. I usually pay £14-20, and that's for a proper hot wax rather than warm and strip. Considering how cheap Ryanair flights are it would be cheaper to fly to London to get waxed.

OMG that's awful  Actually I think that €35 is very cheap. I've always paid between €60 and €65 for brazilians / hollywoods.

Anyway, find out if you can report them somewhere because that is totally unprofessional what she did by calling in another person to peek at your bits! I'm not surprised that you're very upset by this.

Don't ever go back there again though. If you are in Dublin, go to Brazilia, they are by far the best waxers around.

I've been amazed in the past by what is passed as a "brazilian" in Ireland

One time, I went to the loooocal place to try out as I had a voucher. My first clue should have been the paper knickers  . she took EVERYTHING off the top area (from top of lips up) and well, didnt touch the rest

Another well known salon in town left me covered in blood, bruises and clumps of wax and hair

The only place I've been 100% happy with is Waxperts in Dun Laoghaire.
