    Dove or Johnson & Johnson

i HATE Fake Bake and all of them really extreme fake tans that turns you either dark bdark brown or orante!! i love Dove/Johnson&Johnson Tan Moisturiser.. i use the really fair skin one and love the way it just gives you a little tan and if you want more you can put on more...

so my question ive used them both but recently iv noticed with the Dove one it seems to be a bit patchy and that is with me exfolisaitng and moisturising beforehand..

Just looking for any womens opinions or experiences..which they would recommend..

Dove is brilliant, plus doesnt have weird smell
I found j&j bad for patches and Dove better
On special occasions I do the John Wayne walk for abit to ensure all dry
Then wear cotton all over and no socks
No7 is really good - most people like the foam
But if you moisturise well beforehand and spend at least an hour from start to finish
There will never be any marks (or hand prints) - make sure you get inbetween your fingers and I put on dark nail varnish to cover up brown bits on side of the nails

I'm really fair as well, I bought the new Piz Buin tanning moisturiser lately, the one with the dial that you can adjust. Only used it once so far on the lightest colour but like it, am putting more on tonight as could only see a very vague colour. It went on well though and didn't need much rubbing in, didn't notice any particular scent.

Bronze Express, it's incredible. Goes on straight away with a mit. Lasts 5-6 washes sometimes and it doesn't streak if applied correctly.

I find Dove way better than J&J. None of that manky build up that I get with J&J afterwards. Plus Dove is half price in a lot of chemists. I usually have to put two layers on instead of one though, even though I'm using the darker one and even at that it's just natural looking so I'd prefer if Dove went a shade darker again. I'm going to try that No7 stuff, heard it's good, my blue legs always need more than the rest of me so going to see how the No7 works.

i find dove better than j&j, not as patchy and smells better. use l'oreal sublime bronze now though, its great and doesnt streak!

My sister has been using the Dove tan lately and it looks really good and natural.
I never like wearing fake tan, i'm the palest person and convinced all tan makes me look orange.
My friends all use Sally Hensen going out and that looks good and smells nice too.

Im a big fan of Sally Hansen myself. The light one is great for anyone with not-so-perfect skin - i suffer from ezcema so any other tan just makes it look worse :(

That sounds interesting. I have some patches of psoriasis (thankfully the bloody thing is mostly under control now) and so find it difficult to get a decent fake tan. I'm going to Italy for a wedding at the end of May and am making my holidays out of it. However, I'll be there a week before the wedding and so don't want to get a spray tan before hand as it will be horrible by the time of the wedding itself. Would one of these tanning moisturisers work instead and be suitable for my skin and not look horrible?

I applied the Dove one for the first time about an hour ago - so will see how that turns out tomorrow.
J&J I can't put near my skin - am allergic to it - used it one night before heading out - was sitting in a pub nearly tearing the skin off myself with itch - had to head home and went straight for a cold shower.
I like the L'Oreal Sublime bronze - but have heard great things about Sally Hansen airbrush legs - must buy that and try it out because I have a wedding coming up the end of the month.

My sister used to be a huge fan of Sally Henson, but a local chemist started stocking a similar product by Almay in three shades (god only knows what it's called), and not only does she swear by it but her friends get her to stock up on it for them, and they all wear tan on a regular basis. Personally I'm not a tanner, so it all goes a bit over my head.

Had the same problem..was awful, the itching just wouldn't stop nearly tore the legs off myself  strange too because I'm not allergic to anything else and my skin isn't even sensitive!
Not really a big tanner usually but go through phases of wearing it sometimes! Just got the Sally Henson one there yesterday so gonna give it a go this weekend!

Hmm never heard of this Almay product? I get Sally Hansen Light on eBay cos a lot of chemists dont seem to stock it any more...they have the tan glow or medium, but they dont suit me. the light is great even though its light :D u should try it out kizzyr!

The Garnier moisturising gradual tanner is really lovely and comes in a massive bottle for less than a fiver. Smells yummy too.

    Think it's called Summer Body

Lancaster [pushing the boat out for an important event]

    or Sublime Bronze from Loreal...

aparently Lancome is very good as well... have never used it myself , friend swears by it...

I have always worn clinique or lancome milk, but you have to pay good attention when putting them on especially around the hands and feet.

I now use Sally Hansen, It is brilliant!!! It is instant. You just spray on and rub in. It washes off. So no orange hands.

you can see exactly how your tan is going to be, it drys in quickly. THe tan comes up straight away so you dont have to do it the night before and stink your bed out of it and ruin your pyjamas, and risk streaks.

It is also great at hiding blemishes, bruises and veins.

But if you are going to buy it make sure you dont buy deep unless you are very dark skinned.

i have sworn by bronze express for years. it goes on so easily, lasts a good week and does not streak.

i have also used sally hansen which, imo, is better for a quick fix as it does streak the next day..

another great instant (for pale skin) is no.17 instant glow.. it doesnt streak and is very natural!

I find garnier summer glow brilliant. It's like the Johnson's one, but I find it works better, for me anyway. I hate proper fake tans, they always fade out horribly.

Does anyone know if perfume reacts with fake tan to cause brown patches on the skin that last a few months. I use Dove but during a sun holiday I developed patches that just stayed! Anyone got any ideas???
