Proposed Blasphemy Law?

Firstly, I'm agnostic bordering on atheist but I wanted to get some Christians views on this whole proposed blasphemy law. I am dead set against it, obviously....and I am assuming, perhaps incorrectly (but I don't think so) that the more religious amongst us would definetly support such a blasphemy law. But have Christians ever stopped and considered the effect that such a law would have.....it would not simply "protect" Chrisitian beliefs (or Muslim or Jewish or Hindu etc) but it would also restrict what say, a priest or minister or preacher could preach......

Under such a blasphemy law could a priest for example still get up on a Sunday and rail against, lets say for arguments sake, Satan......because if the proposed blasphemy law covers all religious beliefs (which it would) then what about Satanists? They'd also be covered under a blasphemy law, just as Christians would be. Would those Christians who support a blasphemy law still support it given the scenario I've just described?

If a blasphemy law did come in then I think Christian clergy might have to start rewriting their Sunday sermons!

Perhaps I've been living in a cave, but I've never heard of such a proposed law. Would you mind shedding some light on it?

I hope they also bring back ducking, the stocks and ordeal by fire. Lets show the world what an advanced little nation we are.

Not that advanced obviously, similar laws, i.e. blasphemy, have been reintroduced in other countries.
