what if it's like the charlaine harris vampires, though, and a certain amount of ritual is required before someone is turned to a vampire, while most are just drained and killed?
or like the poppy z brite vampires, where vampires are actually a different species, and are born, not made, and the mothers always die when giving birth?

i reckon the scientists didnt explore all the possibilities.

Most scientists probably aren't as well read in vampire fiction as you or me Froo. They going with the broad strokes of Hollywood vampires.

I just provided a link to an article reporting on some silly physicists theories about why vampires couldn't exist alongside humanity. Don't be thinking I doubt the existence of vampires. I've broken five or six knuckles cracking their thick heads.

oi! no need to get violent with them, it's just their way of showing affection!

That was my assertion of dominance over them to keep them from bothering the local squirrels. Those are my squirrels d*mn it! We became fast friends afterwards.

    good to hear :D

i wonder why they bothered the squirrels?

and i wonder if they can change shape, or levitate?

They was trying to eat the squirrels. I eat the squirrels. As far as shape-changing no, but they did get some serious air after I started tossing them about. Does that count as levitation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,196 ✭✭✭Crumble Froo

it's only levitation if they keep the air :pac:

waht about appearing/disappearing in a mist? i reckon they could definitely do that.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 47,865 Mod ✭✭✭✭cyberwolf77

Don't think they could do that either, though they did make a loud pop by displacing the air when they took off running after I mentioned I was done playing around. I still caught them, but they had an impressive turn of speed I'll admit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,196 ✭✭✭Crumble Froo

i reckon they could, just that there was no mist around at the time. which is why they do better off in ireland, than in americaland. *nods*

The kind where you can express your view on anything with knowing anything.
    Americaland.
The place were if you don't have money for health care in the first place , they charge you what your house is worth .
    Americaland.
Where you can be as cynical as the things that I am saying .

Indeed, the DooM is as pure as driven snow on a mountain on a planet where there's no life to contaminate it in an alternate dimension without bacteria.

This threads given me an idea for the role playing thread though... The basic storyline could be theres a treaty between werewolves, vampires et al which keeps war from breaking out... and the players are trying to maintain that peace...

Two physicists have published an academic paper where they demonstrate, by virtue of geometric progression, that vampires could not exist.

    ?

Captain Obvious has published an academic paper where he demonstrates, by virtue of geometric progression, that vampires could not exist.

Ah, makes sense now. Thank you captain obvious!.

Thye claim it was done as a thought experiment to refute three other papers published on the subject, so somewhere somebody got paid to at least read it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,196 ✭✭✭Crumble Froo

to refute other papers? so there's papers out there saying that vampires could/do exist?

    or have i misunderstood?

fangs", and these, along with what he described as a rattle-snake-like mandible, buttressed palate, "surgically-sharp" unguals, robust limbs and other characters suggested that Jeholopterus was a vampire pterosaur adapted to plunging fangs into tough hide, then rotating the skull forward locking the fangs beneath the hide to improve adhesion. The small teeth of the lower jaw would not have penetrated but squeezed the wound like a pliers.[3] Prominent pterosaur researcher Chris Bennett has described Peters' findings as "fantasy" and has vehemently denounced his methodology

the benefits include increased strength, speed, and resilience, a seemingly infinite lifespan that stretches into millennia, magnified senses, base emotional stimulation, access to latent psychic power such as ESP or telepathy, metamorphic flesh allowing flight or disguise, and certain narcotic effects.

    I'll take one!
