How much coffee have you drunk in one day?

I think I'm going to spend today drinking as much coffee as possible. I've drank 4 cups so far (2x teaspoons in each) and I'm still in the mood for more.

So how much have you ever had in one day? Is it ok to drink as much as you like? For the sake of my experiement I'm going to presume that it is.

I regularly drink 5-15 cups of coffee per day. If my chest isn't tight, I haven't drank enough

Riding the brown serpent isn't fun.

4 espresso shots per day is generally enough for me.

I once had an espresso ... it was disgusting, that was my one and only coffee experience, it turned me off the stuff for life.

So in answer to your question ... one espresso!!!

    Maybe they tasted someone else's.

Not sure what my record is - probably 5, which is nothing really. And espressos can be good!! But I generally prefer a good milky coffee.

I remember drinking at least 8 straight (no milk etc.) espresso's in the space of a few hours recently during some work-related training session.

My mind had no idea what was going on. Who needs crack?

Don't drink as much coffee as I used to, would have about 2-4 cups of coffee a day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,133 ✭✭✭Sarn

It would be very unlikely for you to have an adverse effect drinking regular coffee. Stay below 50 cups and you should be ok. If you start noticing trembling or any other effects I'd stop.

Instant coffee is not real coffee, don't mind that smooth talking woman on the Kenco ads, they might use the same beans but there is a huge difference in taste.

Get yourself a cheap plunger and a pack of Douwe Egberts(two for the price of one in Dunnes), boil the kettle, rinse out the plunger add 4 tablespoons of coffee, pour in water, let it brew for 2-3 min and then push down plunger but not all of the way or you'll be spitting out lumps of coffee.

    Sit back and enjoy!

bout 3 cups of strong lavazza coffee does the trick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,814 ✭✭✭BaconZombie

I'd say drink till you get a tremor in your hands.

I normal drink between 5 and 8 "cups" a day.

1 cup = Large ~10oz cup with 2-3 large desert spoons of instant coffee {it's free}.

I've some high quality coffee in my freezer I've been meaning to bring into work since they are threatening to take away our free instant coffee.

    TheZohan,

Great post, just one correction, NEVER use boiling water with real coffee.

You are not meant to use boiling water to make coffee. The beans are prepared in such a way that the optimum flavour is reached using water at less than boiling point. Pouring boiling water onto beans or instant granuals will bring out a bitterness and impare flavour.

    Drink usually 3 myself.
No coffee 6 hours previous to bed time.

Used to be a barrista in the RDS, it was my favourite job of all time! :)

    Love this stuff for espresso.

My favourite way of drinking coffee is, Two shots of Black Cat Coffee Absinthe over ice......

If only I could get away with drinking the stuff in work.

Death in the Afternoon was Hemmingway’s famous Absinthe cocktail. Black Cat Coffee can be considered the new Death in the Morning. Wormwood is blended with an awakening coffee flavour to create a very special liquor. Forget Cafe Lattes drink Black Cat!

    * 30% alcohol
    * 0.7 liter / 23.65 fl.oz

I drink a few espressos per day.
That, Monster energy, and jolt cola provide plenty of energy:D

Have had 1 so far today (Robert Roberts ground costa rican, cause instant is for plebians :pac::)) and am drinking my second at the moment. Will probably have a third later. Doesnt compare to some of yis, but i happen to enjoy sleeping! :D.

My record was 4 cups a day for a week, back in march. I had to do a leaving cert project that should take about 3 months in the space of a week in a half. Sleep was a liability at the time :).

4 mugs of instant is about the equivalent of 1 pot.

Its time to get off the instant crap and onto proper coffee - get yourself a grinder and some whole Colombian beans.

I'd often drink a whole pot. By the afternoon or evening I've switched over to iced coffee :p its nice having an ice crusher on your fridge door.

As advised buy yourselves a decent grinder, a plunger from anywhere and some freshly roasted beans, you won't look back :)

    Questions?

Plungers are good too if you're not in it for the distiller pot/coffee maker. But those arent very common in Ireland are they? The distillers I mean. They're a Standard Issue over here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,857 ✭✭✭Valmont

I had my first experience with a household coffee machine last summer and I made a big pot that was really, really strong. I had four cups and went to work. I went really pale and my eyes were really wide open and I kept drifting off into really intense daydreams. My jaw started quivering really badly at one stage. It was a horrible experience, I didn't think it was possible to have a proper caffeine overdose.

I don't know what you mean by a 'distiller' is it just a pour-over or a drip machine?

none, I never drink coffee. might have a cup of tea. the amount some of you drink is crazy!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,729 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

yeah. That distills it though...doesnt it  Eh. Irrelevant.

"The amount some of you drink is crazy!"

This is a way more fun stimulant than cigarettes. hamanahamanahamana. And its smells so good... Not the instant crap, the ground beans. Intoxicating.

6 or 7 cups along with a few cans of redbull during exam times, gives me a serious case of the hypers.

One. Very occasionally two. They only sell instant in college, so I'm forced to drink it more ofte than I'd like.

Three or four, very good coffee free in work.

    ...in a day?

Most I did was 4 cans of Tesco Kick in a day. For 7 days during exams. I was scared I was gonna have a heart attack by the end of the ordeal.
