You'd be amazed at the amount of people that say this. Are we really that bad like? Or is it just jealousy?

I'm not sure it was always as bad as it is now, but since the hurling stike, the Keane Saipan affair, and maybe the Stephen Ireland situation too it has gotten to a stage where everyone seems to hate us.

Are we really a bunch of langers?

Well, I don't know about the whole cultural capital thingy. And what's the craic with those People's Republic t-shirts? It's like they think they're equal or something

We aren't actually hated, just misunderstood.

Cork people just seem to have a strange atitude - like a persecution complex - going on about the second capital and stuff. Maybe they have a good reason, I dunno.

I was at a theme park in Wales a few years ago and a bunch of people from Cok (very strong accents) were standing behind me in the queue for a rollercoster and were getting really nervous about how high it was. One of them said, sure it's grand I'll see you all in heaven if we die. There was a few seconds pause and then he added sure, cork is heaven so I'll see you back there for a few pints. He wasn't even really joking, I don't think. Everyone he was with nodded in agreement rather then laughing!

I thought it was pretty deluded. If heaven is like Cork then I'll be sorely disappointed!

You'll be disappointed? I reckon the Pope will convert to Taosim if Heaven is like Cork. I reckon the Archbishop of Canterbury will act on that lifelong urge and start worshipping Satan. If Heaven is like Cork, then in all fairness, Pontius Pilate had the right idea. Let's be honest.

So would I!!! Personally I don't like Cork all that much, I mean the City is nice and all, but the people are generally a little stupid. There are a few different types of Cork people really. Few of them are good. I am the exception, while I am an arsehole, I am not an arsehole who thinks Cork is the Pinnacle of Civilisation.

I'm a Dub who's been living in Cork for the past 3 years and in all honesty I think a gang of Cork scumbags are far less likely to kick the living piss out of you for looking in their direction than a gang of Dublin scumbags - just an observation.

    Deep breaths.
    Deep breaths.
    Deep breaths.

    Ahh **** it.
    Bunch of arrogant, deluded bastards.
    Get over yourselves..
Dublin is the capital and the only good thing to ever come out of Cork was a road leading out of it.

I'm sitting here in my nice litle Kildare home and laughing at the arrogance of both the Dubs and the Corkonians and you both look pathetic. The only difference is that Dubs are not deluded about where the capital is.

    You want your PROC?
    Take it.
One less county for the productive counties to support.

Best of luck building an economy based of the fact that the last place the titanic made port was queenstown. That's all you have to offer.
Now get back in your box and accept that you are just one of 26.

By the way, Rathcormack should be nuked.

I absolutely hate Cork. Maybe it's because I'm from Kerry and go to college in Cork (but not really because I don't give a **** about GAA and the like). I don't know what it is about it.

Did the thread title really need an "Oh" at the beginning?
Did Terry really need to say "Deep Breaths" three times, when the pluralisation itself implied he took more than one deep breath?

I blame Cork people, I really do. Go Leinster.

    Wrong.
Kildare gets a colonoscopy every 4 months.
    We're fine.

Really didn't want to do this, but here it goes..

Sonia O Sullivan, Roy Keane (greatest and most sucessful Irish soccer player), Christy Ring (greatest hurler), Jack Lynch(greatest politician and dual player), Michael Collins(greatest patriot), most senior all-irelands titles etc etc etc.

No arrogance there, just proving your claim is a load of crap..

Perhaps if Kildare watched what it ate (all those Dublin commuters just aren't healthy you know) and got off its fat ass every now and then it wouldn't need a camera up the jacksie so frequently.

Terry, Colonoscopy aside, Kildare is Irelands number 1 cure for insomnia. Seriously, I've been there; people, if you ever find your life is too jam-packed with fun things to do, go to Kildare.

Our industries support that failure of a county you call Cork.
Viva la PROC (probably pronounced prock).
All you have is a town with some walls and a castle. Half of the country has the same thing. The rest of us are just not deluded enough to think it makes us special.

TBH it's only really ever Dubs I come across who have a big problem with Cork. Everyone else will give a bit of a slegging but no more I think really than you would for any county according to its fame. I've come across Dubs who'd be fit to rise a row with somebody just because they're from Cork. Maybe though that's just because there's a lot more scumbags in Dublin than elsewheres in the country.

I have known prison officer's who if they get any major hassle or threats from Prisoners in Cork Prison, they will get them transferred to Dublin, just so he can enjoy a good hammering.

Dublin jailbirds don't like Cork Jailbirds at all.

And Vice Versa but it's not really the same.

    Do you understand percentages?
    100,000 people in Cork.
    1,500,000 in Dublin.

There are more intelligent people, more artistic (covering all arts) people, more obese, more anorexic, more potato eaters, more smokers, more halfwits, more Cork people, more everything because Dublin has a bigger population.

There must be more uneducated people in Cork because some of them do not understand percentages.

There are about 100 times as many murders in the U.S. every year compared to Ireland.
It's not because they have a population or about 100 times our own. It's because there are more scumbags in America. FACT.

A twat is a twat no matter what part of the world they're from. As a Cork man myself (county, not city) I don't think Cork people are any better or worse than people from any other county. The whole PROC thing is a piss-take, I don't know anyone who takes it seriously.

I will say though that Cork scumbags tend to be less threatening/subhuman than Dublin or Limerick scumbags.

It's the fault of the far reaching Dublin media bias conspriacy!

It's like the far reaching left wing conspriacy in America, but about far more important things.

Here in the 'neutral' West we hate Dublin far more than Cork, although Sky's customer service is quite uninteligable thanks to it's choice of Cork as it's hub.

Cork will never be able to exceed Dublin's position, whose place is now took for granted so much that the second most prolific county is taking the brunt of the flak.

Have to say I quite like Cork city - it's more attractive than Dublin. That said, I'm not surprised that lots of people hate the place. It's like Dublin with a country village parochial mentality.

Is there the equivalent of D4 in Cork city? C4 maybe? Probably not. I can't imagine a posh Cork person.
