is it a modem or anything like that.

I got a speeding ticket a few years ago in a registered letter. Very ironic i think signing for a fine.

That there is the Gardai and their new "tactic" to get summonses et al into your hands if they cannot personally hand them over. Tried it on a few people i know, only one fell for it and ended up in court:pac:

i've been told they dont make you sign for fines any more- but that could be Horsesh1t. i'm not expecting anything what so ever! I hate waiting till tuesday to collect it.:confused::mad:

Registered post can mean anything really, subpoenas and summons usually come by registered letter and failing that they will serve them on you personally. It could also be a Birthday card with a draft enclosed or something else erroneous. However most people who spend the €5.17 to post a registered letter do so for good reason so it is probably important. If you are on the Dole it could be something from those fellars and most likely it is bad.

if you don't want to lose a lot of time collecting the letter, ring that sorting office early on Tuesday morning (7-8am) and ask them what time would your delivery is likely to get to you so you might be able to hang on for them.

Dublin City Council often send planning permission related things by registered post, if that's a possibility?

I am not well up on this so I hope the OP won't mind me asking a question.
What if the OP doesn't collect, will it be sent again?
Or does it depend on the importance of the Registered Letter and who it is from?

My Oh had notification of a "registered letter" a long time ago. He didn't collect it - assumed it may have been a speeding summons.

Fast forward 1.5 years and we went skiing to the same resort and hotel as 2 winters before. We checked in and were presented with a returned parcel they received having from An Post. Turns out it was his lost jacket (FLASHBACK...drunken last light in club, leaving and no jacket to be found..)

"Registered Letters" aren't always bad news.

Oh ... and Price Bond prizes are sent by ordinary post

    Oh wow... :pac:

It could possible be that thing you were hoping it wasn't (in relation to maintenance??)

could be any company that you owe money to. insurance company or something... they generally use registered post so they have proof that they informed you of the debt. i know axa are great for doing it!
or its someone who owes you money! and they dont wanna send it through normal post!
or something with your pps no. on it. social welfare or something.
although they didnt use registered post with me, and i would've preferred them to though cause my card got lost in the post!
if you think it may cause trouble though, just ring them and ask them to post it out to on so and so a day and then get someone else to sign for it, that way it cant be used as proof that you got it cause you personally didnt sign for it!

This reminds of the 'do you answer withheld numbers' thread?

I've never heard of people being actually scared of getting registered mail. Jaysus.

    Littering fine probably.

I got one for discarding a top-up receipt about 2 years ago. They traced the number.
