Maybe a gait analysis would be useful also.

You will get more info on the Running forum

I have fallen arches and wear a pair of orthitics (a plastic insert that gives your foot an arch) all the time in every pair of shoes, even just for walking.

Basically if you have fallen arches and you run or play sports regularly you should wear orthorics. I play rugby and after years of running around without an orthotic, the muscles in my legs and around my knees were unbalanced and uneven and I wound up tearing my cruciate ligament because there wasn't adequate muscle support holding my knee together at the side.

Since getting the orthotic a few years ago the muscles in my legs have evened up noticeably and my knees etc are more secure. The orthotics also seem to have improved my posture a bit, I used to walk slightly hunched over however it seems having an artificial arch in my foot has improved the way I walk normally and straightened me out.

Basically I would highly recommend that you see a physio and get his assessment, and definately get the orthotics if he recommends them
