Will you ever be happy with your body/how much you lift?

Thought this might be an interesting topic, but just curious more than anything!

I've been training for about 4/5 years (3 years seriously).
I've made some good progress over those years, but still think there is a lot of improvements that i could make. I'm happy with the increases that i have made with the weights, increasing the kgs lifted slowly but surely.

If I was back in my position 4/5 years ago when i first started, I doubt that I thought I'd ever be lifting as much as I am now or training as well as I am now.
I plan to keep training and increasing the weight I lift but don't know if i'll ever be completely satisfied with the numbers because I know there is always room for improvement.

What do you think about your own training? Are you happy with where you are now, but do you think you will ever be 100% satisfied knowing that you can still give more?

Great topic, I have been training seriously for the past 5 years now and over such time I have made some amazing gains both in the weight I lift and my body, but of course even time I look in the mirror I see something that I would like to change, whether its to get a bit bigger or some more definition in a particular muscle, I always look for fault. Dam me, feck that I am off to the gym :D

    Totally happy with my body.

Since I started eating roughly 6000 calories a day I can now, when I work from home, sit on the couch, rest my laptop on my knees AND rest my phone on the ledge of my powerbelly and talk on it handsfree.

How about that for "functional strength" crossfit MUDDAFUKKKAAAASS!

So should have known that most people will never be completely be satisfied with themselves, but what are the drivers behind that?

What makes you want to be bigger, slimmer, more muscular, stronger, faster?

Is it seeing people lifting more than you, people moving faster than you, peoples perception of you, people with your 'ideal' body?

And when do you decide that you're not happy and want to progress? Is it immediately after reaching a personal goal and creating a new one straight away? Or because you saw someone lift a huge weight and you decide you want to do that too? Or because you saw somebody with a body that you think looks good?

Kev, I've been lying to myself like that too. But now I've realised the error of my ways and started dieting. Come join the dark side. We don't have cake, but we do have a lovely 6 pack*.

When I see vids of people lifting 1000 lbs, a part of me wants that. I don't know why cause I'm still a noob and a long long long long way off ever coming close to that. I'm definitely not happy with where I am now because I had to stop training for months, and feel like I should be squatting 2xbw by now. That's really frustrating, but it also drives me to a large degree.

It's funny... I don't actually know how to answer that question other than by saying "more weight".

    It's a strange one because I can't say it's competition - there's none in Ireland really.

It's not records - I woulda broken WDFPF ones if it wasn't for my bomb. I won't break IPF ones cos they're too high.

It's not showing off - there's always someone stronger.

It's not looking good - look at me ffs!!

I don't think there's any reason other than it's what I do, and I do it so I can lift more weight.

im happy enough but im still getting stronger and id like to see how far i go. i never get pissed off and feel bad that im not strong enough(tho i did a few weeks ago when i saw skinny kids on youtube lift the same weight as me).
im stronger than the average gym user but for my size/muscle mass im not that strong, but thats because i gain muscle very easily and its only been 5months that ive been training for now, i hope this time its for life.

id like to be leaner but i dont really mind my body fat percentage, its the bloating i hate. some days ive a flat stomach, other days im 4months pregnant.

ye im happy, i just wish id get off my ass and progress with the rest of my life

I'm happy with my body, I change my mind about what I want every few months "Brock Lesnar to footballers physique and vica versa" but I'm happy with me.

My biggest weakness is the fact I hate cardio so I do the bare minimum and ALWAYS HIIT. Eating 100% healthy is also really hard for me to do, I eat well, but then I don't eat often enough, or else I get bored of eating solely chicken etc so I eat well around 80% of the time and as a result, my body is only at 80% but what can you do?

I'm at the stage where I can work as hard as I want in the gym but I won't improve my physique anymore unless I get the diet from 80% up to 100% but I'm content with it at 80% because I think I still look good. (I think :) )

I doubt I'll ever be completely happy with my body, I'll probably always have some skin spare on my belly along with plenty of stretch marks, and I'm just about not vain enough to get surgery on it.:P
