It takes far far far too much alcohol for me to sing in Kareoke, so I don't really know :P

Cutting Crew - Died in your Arms
    Haddaway - What is Love

I should get out more (less).

    No.

There is simply not enough alcohol in the world to make me do this. Ever.

People have tried. and failed. In Toronto every Monday in our local it was Karaoke night and one Monday after a hell of alot of drink, my friends tried to get me up with all of them 5 of them, even with 5 other people i wont do it.

    I'm looking for inspiration.

I have a long track record of being cataclysmically shy of this kind of thing.
I once lost the power of my legs during a presentation, I was that nervous. :o

If your that scared of something, It has to be worth doing. Right?

Only did karaoke once and sang "Stand By Me" (badly). I didn't pick the song myself but the microphone was just shoved in my hand.

If I was to pick one song I'd love to do "Kiss" by Prince - the thought of screaming my lungs out for the last chorus is fun.

I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket but I can still sing with gusto when I want to!

Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow - The Shirelles

You Were Meant For Me - Jewel

You should do it in the Woolshed! Everyone is generally drunk on cheap pitchers of cocktails and beer so it just ends up a big singsong basically. Great stuff. :)

You'll enjoy it while you're up there too. I do it every few weeks and I'm still terrified going up but you will enjoy it!

Ah man, I love a bit of Karaoke. Sober as a judge or slurring it out. My Way-Frank Sinatra...cant beat it with a stick.

Earliest memory of Karaoke, 10yrs old, holiday in Spain with my grandmother and 10yr old cousin (best mate)... 3 of us up on the stage in a bar at about half 10 belting out Whiskey in the Jar.

    Irresponsible mildly Alcoholic Grandparents ftw.

Add in The Joker by The Steve Miller Band, Wheel in the Sky by Journey and Hotel California by The Eagles and you have my ideal karaoke list!:D

    Don't Stop Me Now- Queen

Holding Out For A Hero- Bonnie Tyler

    Bitch- Meredith Brooks

Builde me Up Buttercup- The Foundations

    Wonderwall- Oasis

But I will need an ENORMOUS amount of alcohol to get me up there in the first place.

That or hypnosis. And I'd really rather not...

Meredith Brooks - Bitch or TLC - No Scrubs. I went to a party with karaoke a few weeks ago and won an award for never ending song because that song is all chorus (no, I don't want no scrubs etc)

When I'm drunk I sing a lot of Boyz ii Men - whether there is a karaoke machine present or not.

/ALTHOUGH WE'VE COME TO THE END OF THE ROAD, STILL I CAN'T LET GO

Yes, I have been drinking wine tonight!

absolutely luv it .... our family has a karaoke machine and at the beginning of the night it's all 'no. oh no seriously no thanks. ah no thanks really i'm terrible, please ask someone else, sure i can't carry a tune..' to murder over the microphone (actual physical tussles - hilarious :D) and 'she sang 2 in a row that's not bloody fair' and 'u cow you know that's my song'

    my current favs....

    blondie - call me
    dolly parton - 9-5
bonnie tyler - total eclipse of the heart (my bro-in-law kindly does the back vocals, sounds like his testicles are being sawn off)
    any carpenters song

beware phil collins 'can't hurry leave' - i was nearly put on a ventilator afterwards :o

I did this with a friend, first time singing karaoke, there was one other person in the whole bar other than the barmen, she walked out. :(

The next night we got them with Spice Girls - Stop, seemed to work much better so I guess that's the song :p

Sounds like a plan! Although if it's boyz ii men you want to here then it just needs to be somewhere with alcohol, preferably jaeg.

pity local punk band, OIS II MEN have broken up... now them i will gladly sing/dance/pogo to with or without the boozahol.

ill look into it, but presence of karaoke could cause the lack of presence of jif, but anywho, heaps of time to plan this :D

we could even test the theory on there not being enough alcohol in the world to make me join in.

actually. i could possibly, with enough alcohol consumption, be persuaded into doing 'its still rock n roll to me.'

i have a habit of bursting into song(very badly) while walking down the road and other various normal situations so karaoke is right up my alley.
pretty much any song that i have a clue about ill sing it,though very painfully:P

I have the unfortunate burden of having a very good singing voice, which means that if I don't choose carefully, I can ruin any karaoke night. So I like to stick with songs like:
    Strokin
    My Humps
    The Funky Cold Medina

Fun and silly, just as karaoke should be.

I approve. Add Hold the Line to this and it would be perfect.

My singing voice is not good, but i can sing an acceptable version of a simple song that suits my voice.

    I can sing
    Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond
    Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton
Summer of '69 by Bryan Adams.

I usually sing karaoke on holidays and only when i'm intoxicated!

I go to the Kinsealy Inn and do the Karaoke there. Most people tend to be really, super good at that thing though.

In the past I've done "I'm a Believer" and "Day Dream Believer" by the Monkees. I've also done "Never Going to Give You Up" by Rick Astley and "Falling in Love Again" by Marlene Dietrich.

Apparently I did "Brass in my Pocket" by the Pretenders in the Woolshed at one point though... but was too drunk to clearly remember.

I'm currently practicing my 'Africa' by Toto for my next Karaoke performance. And a good friend who passed away recently always wanted me to do "Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong, so I guess I have to do that at some stage soon too.

"Never Going to Give You Up" by Rick Astley.

This is my friends karaoke song and he is awesome at it. He does have a tendance to go round to everyone afterwards shouting "ha, i rickrolled you" which gets less funny each time.

Monkeyfudge, I'd love to hear you rickroll people. Maybe next time I'm home it'll have to be a karaoke beers!

    Respect - Aretha Franklin

    Black Velvet - Alannah Myles

I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor

... I have also been known to do a drunken rendition of Like A Virgin - Madonna! ;)

    Karaoke is such a laugh
    :D

You mentioned it enough during the quiz.

That lyric never gets old though.

I was at another pub quiz on Friday and one of the questions actually was 'What country is Kilimanjaro in?'.... panic stations as that isn't actually covered in the lyrics.

Speaking of karaoke though... I am thinking of organising some karaoke for Thursday evening this week if anyone is interested... already have a few boardsies from the drama group on board. May book one of the places where you can just take a room for yourself for karaoke... which is a good place to begin for anyone who hasn't done it before.

I'm not big into Karaoke, but get a few friends together and throw singstar on and so help me, you're never getting that mic back.

I have to admit, my personal favourite would be Quality's You're So Vain - Carly Simon.

I just love listening to music and find it very hard not to sing along, but god help anyone listening, I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.

Did a duet of I Got You Babe Cher and Sonny style while on hols in Austria - they loved it :D well they would do since we could actually pronounce the words :O:D
also have belted out S Club's Reach and a bit of I Will Survive is always fun to attempt!!

My recent and first karoake experience, I was out for a friends Birthday I was so nervous but she really wanted me to sing!
Anyway I got up to sing Natalie Imbruglia- Torn. I returned to my seat when I was done and asked her how I sounded, to which she replied
'it was a great song noone could tell that you can't sing'
Needless to say that put an end to any pro karoake aspirations I might have had! :D
