    Hi ladies :)

Am due to have a DEXA/Bone Density scan soon, am wondering if anyone had one and if it was uncomfortable or just like an xray?

Mods, not seeking medical advice, just details on the scan, please move if not appropriate.

    Thanks everyone!

Just like an xray, absolutely nothing to it.

takes a bit longer than an x-ray but it's a similar process, and thanks for the reminder, I'm supposed to get one done soon! :)

Hey, i had one a few months ago... there is nothing to it.... I was weighed first, then asked when my last period was. Then asked to luy on a bed you would see in a doctors surgrey, a machine comes over your stomach (its above you, nothing like a MRI or anything... doesnt feel enclosed at all!) then i was actaully suprised when she handed me a blanket and asked me to pull my trousers down to my knees (so just a tip wear loose trousers- you should have seen me trying to take off jeans, belts lol) It lasts around 5 minutes max. Ive been told some people can get their results when its over, although i didnt get mine- was told to get them from my doctor.

Good luck its a breeze- but i do remember frantically trying to figure out what a dexa scan was the night before i was to have it done- so i understand your question:)

yep, what they said, pretty much. absolutely no biggy, would rather ten of them than an mri.

Thanks very much everyone :) I was worried that it would be similiar to an MRI as I'm not a fan of them.

    Thanks again :)

My sister had one done - they're not that bad - she's a terrible hypochondriac/worrier and she didn't freak out, so it can't be too bad :)
