BOARDS.IE STREET FIGHTER 4 TOURNAMENT-FIXTURES AND RESULTS
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST BEFORE PLAYING THIS TOURNAMENT


TIMEFRAME
The league competition starts now! ALL league fixtures shoul be completed by May 16th 2009. When inviting another player to a boards match please state "Boards Tournament" in the invite!

GENERAL
To set up a game, go to Player Match, then Create Game and then set Private Slots to Yes and Number of players to 2. Then once the lobby is set up, invite the player from your friends list.

I was going to post fixtures, but with only 5 match-ups each in the group stage, I do not feel it is necessary. Just get online and start playing!

The only think I ask of everyone is to complete their fixtures. People who get bored and quit ruin leagues so please commit yourself!

There is a vast difference between the skill of some players. If you find youself getting beaten heavily, do not give up. learn from the experience and you will become a better player.

When you finish a match-up between players, post the names and gamertags of both players along with the name of your group ye are in.


RULES
1) Each group has 6 players. Each participant plays every other person in their group once. Therefore, each participant has 5 match-ups.

2) Each match-up consists of a total of 13 games. All 13 games must be played, even if one opponent has reached the number of games required to win the match-up (7). The game will use standard rules...best of 3 rounds, 99 timer. You may pick a new character each game.

3) When a player wins a match-up, they get 3 points. When a player loses a match-up they get 0 points. The difference between the number of wins and the number of losses within the match-up serves as a "goal difference" and will be used to break any tie-breakers at the end of the group stages between more than 3 players. If only 2 players are even on points at the end of the group stage, then the person who won the initial match-up between these players goes through.

4) The top 4 players from each group will advance to the knockout stages. These 16 players will be assigned a seed and the knockouts will pit 1st seed vs 16th seed, 15th v 2nd seed etc. The following number of games will be played at each round

Last 16 Round: First to 7
Quarter Finals: First to 9
Semi Finals: First to 11
Finals First to 13

The bottom 2 players in each group will compete in a Shield Competition with teh following games

Quarter Finals: First to 9
Semi Finals: First to 11
Finals First to 13

5) Please, no taunting. I don't expect this to be a problem with anyone here anyways, but I'd rather set it in stone.

6) No quitting


Note: Since we had 25 applicants and 24 places, I have decided to drop out from the event to make an even number. I also feel that it would be better to close the applications for this tournament so things are consistent.

I have been running gaming tournaments for most of my life and there comes a time when the organiser has to drop for the benefit of the event he/she is running. 24 is a nice number and if I start adding more, then the number of players that would qualify from each group would alter mid-tournament and I hate that.

I don't think so it was all about the fun anyways,,,,we both selected a wide range of characters. It wasnt just our mains (not that i have one) playing all the time.

I wouldn't worry too much. I was only first for a day, I'm second now.

Seriously though, I got lucky. I got a load of the top 10 GPers in the same tourney and somehow managed to jambag some victories. I'm not that good. Infact i'd bet my house on several people in our small 24 man tourney being able to beast me .

Looking forward to the games. Think ive added my group at this stage.
