Yeah you should have no bother getting a ticket on the day. It was never a problem in the last few years anyway.

It'll be no bother getting a ticket on the day.
KK and WX for the wins.
The Div 2 final is a very important one as the winner gets promoted.

Who cares about the division 1 final, the division 2 final will be much more exciting ;)

Big weekend for Wexford. The second of three big games between the two teams in the space of a couple of months. I was suprised by how much we beat Offaly by in the group stages, but I don't think it will be as easy this time. At that stage Wexford had to win to stay in the hunt and Offaly knew they could afford a defeat. This game however will be of equal importance to both teams, but I will still go for a Wexford win.

I think offaly might sneak it against Wexford.

On the division 1 game I think Tipp will be beaten out the gate myself hope im wrong but can see cats slotting 5-6 goals in this one, 15-20 point or there abouts victory for Cats

It will hardly be as one-sided as that, but Kilkenny should win by about 7 or 8 points I'd say. 2-19 to 1-14 or something like that.

I'd go for Kilkenny by 10 or 12 and Wexford by 3.

I think Wexford might have a few more to spare - I'd go with a 5- or 6-point gap in that one.

Kilkenny have already hammered Tipp this year which generally makes it harder to do so again... but with this KK team, I'm not sure that logic will apply. I think they'll win it but I can't decide if they'll go into a double-digit points difference again or not...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

Kilkenny will win by about 8/9 pts.
Div 2 is way more interesting as it means so much to the winner. I can only see a Wexford win here...they are flying at the moment beating Offaly easily & a Carlow side on a good run handily too.
    Wexford by 5/6 i think.

I tend to disagree - Offaly will be no walkovers on Sunday and Wexford are below full strength with injuries and fitness concerns around a number of key players

Quigley & Farrell are out for the long term while Rossiter, Stamp & Kenny are supposedly struggling to make Sunday

Meanwhile Offaly look set to have Kenny and Franks back in the full back line - Kenny was a huge loss for the league walloping by Wexford

I predict an Offaly win by 4-5 points

Rossiter is definitely out. I very much doubt if either team will win this game by a huge margin. The last game was a bit of an upset.

So Jugs if you had to pick the league final or the first round of the championship, which game would you rather win against Wexford?

Been thinking about this for the past half hour or so.....

Its a tough one - Division one hurling next year is absolutely essential for this team to progress - another year in Division two would be a disaster...

However, Championship is Championship :) but there is a back door where I feel we could do well this year.. (If we avoid the Munster Q-F losers in the draw)

If Offaly or Wexford win - it's an open draw for the Semi-Finals .. the draw would most likely be Offaly/Wexford, Dublin, Galway & Kilkenny

I cant answer it or at least need to think about it over lunch :D

Normally you'd have to give championship priority but in this case it's hard to know. I'd agree with you that Offaly need div1 hurling next year, and as regards the championship they might be as well off in the qualifiers as going into a Leinster semi against Kilkenny and getting hammered by 15 points.

God thats a weak Tipp attack. Hopefully thats their Munster championship team. Woodlock's a midfielder, Corbett and Callanan can't win their own ball, Webster has no hurling in him etc.

Munster were overwhelming favourites in Rugby today and we've seen what happened. We all know Kilkenny are favourites .......

Bit of a scrap now, KK dont like being beaten.

Ref's gonna need a lot of help from his linesmen and umpires to keep a lid on this methinks - the only thing matching the pace of the game is the physicality.

I know it's still early but I'm delighted to see Tipp really putting it up to Kilkenny - they're almost going out of their way to take them on physically and it's disrupted Kilkenny's rhythm a lot by the looks of things.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,567 ✭✭✭delta_bravo

Getting very heated. 2-2 to 1-4 to Tipp. Both sides should have gotten red cards

Won't be out of it for to long, 1-2 in about a minute and they have the wind in the second half

Unfortunate for Fogarty that play was brought back there - great finish.

Ref seems to think that the experimental rules don't apply today... I'd like to see cards for all of this, nothing good can come of letting people flake away at each other with the hurls.

Kilkenny should be on 2 reds. Terrible tackle from no. 13 there (not sure who it is), shoulder right in the face leading with elbow, at least a yellow

dirty match isn't it? so was that goal not a goal then or what?

    dirty match isn't it?

    you can say that again..
its pure mental!!!.. i dunno whos going to win it at this stage..
it just shows that if you match kilkennys dirty play, theres a chance you can beat them..
just hope to god that tipp wins although i dont even support them..
imagine if eoin kelly and conor o'mahoney were playing, now id love to see that..
but for the moment, it looks like this vicious game is going to continue..

Eddie Brennan. Not the worst that's happened though so I wasn't surprised to see that let go given what had gone before.
so was that goal not a goal then or what?
No, the ball had already gone dead earlier in the move so they had to go back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

Wouldn't call it a dirty match as such, Brennan defintely should have gotten a yellow though. Very physical and passionate, like proper hurling.

I'd call it dirty - yes there's loads of passion (fine) but there are also a lot of strokes being pulled on men. Even the stroke from Curran on Hogan for his goal was dirty, just a hack that was nowhere near playing the ball.

Noel McGrath has taken some awesome scores today.

Cmon Tipp..Nobody expected us to beat Kilkenny..I think we'll do it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,553 ✭✭✭soccymonster

it is dirty enough you have to admit (tommy walsh throwing the hurley at o'brien i think(not exacctly shure) for example), but its a brilliant match..
im suprised that even i am jumping up and down screaming at the computer (tg4 live is a great thing:rolleyes:)..

Kilkenny's dirty play being exposed today. 3 yellow cards, and they could easily have had a few more

The ref is a joke, that should be way more and there should have been a couple of reds.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,238 ✭✭✭✭Diabhal Beag

Cummins came close but that was a wasted chance. Killkenny have it in the bag

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,005 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

:( Kilkenny win by 3 points..Great battle by us and probably the best anyone else will do against Kilkenny all season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,553 ✭✭✭soccymonster

all i can say is well done tipp!:D
finally showed that kilkenny arent unbeatable..
now lets see if tipp can bring that form into the championship and influence other teams to take on kilkenny the way they did (but try and keep the physical tackling to a minimum:pac: we dont want the gaa turning into a boxing match)..

    well done tipp:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,729 ✭✭✭Pride Fighter

Great match but I am dissapointed Tipp lost. Kilkenny were extremely dirty today, Tommy Walsh should have been red carded for throwing his hurl and there was at least 2 other KK red cards in the first half in particular. Tipp should have had a man or 2 sent off too but mainly for fighting, not cynical disgusting play.

The ref completely bottled it, dishing out black books and yellow cards. It is not entirely his fault, he was just following the ridiculous new rules. The new rules should never be passed for hurling, this is its outcome. Dirty play and no red cards. Bring back the old rules for hurling please.

Why did KK do all that dirty rubbish though. They stopped when they were in front. Pretty cynical by them, but cynicism can be the mark of a champion.
