hi everyone, iam a 25 year old male who has lost gone form 23 stone 3 pounds to 15 stone 1 pound. i achieved this through diet and excessive over a a period of 18 months. but since last October i haven't lost any weight, i have kept to my regime religiously but no joy, i have seen my GP, who tells me that after loosing 8 stone that i have a lot of excess skin and that the only real option is surgery. he advised me to join a gym and see could i see a change, thats fine, but, the nearest gym is 40 miles away, and iam not sure if i would be comfortable with surgery.

so i am hoping that someone here could advice me on my diet and excersies, the best way to get rid of the excess skin with out surgery.

    this is my tupical diet

Breckfast: porrige with juice OR scrambled eggs and whole grain toast and juice

Lunch: salad - green leaves, veg ect., no dressing OR homemade Soup with whole grain bread

Dinner: Chicken or fish, (dont eat red meat by choice), Veg, Small potato or pasta or rice

and thats about it, no wine or bear, no fizzy drinks, just water or cup of tea with skimmed milk, no chocolate no chrisps.

my excersise is, 5km walk twice a day witch take me 50 - 55 min. this is 7 days a week, rain or shine.

davice on diet and excersise is what iam reall looking for, any help and advice would be apreacated.

    thanks

Sorry but I have looked into this before and surgery is the only option , you cant lose skin like you can fat , it will tighten up a bit over time ,building some muscle up will help fill it out a bit but stay away from all the cream’s and other potions that claim to help it’s just money down the tubes , check out where your local gaa team train , the is probably a gym/fitness centre closer that 40miles

The excess skin would weigh hardly anything but will need surgery to remove, the weight your carrying will have to be lost through training and healthy eating-get a full body workout plan off a trainer and do cardio exercise aswell..

Unfortunately the older you get the less elasticity in your skin, so I think it's unlikely your skin will tighten up a lot.

How much skin are we talking? If it's not a lot then you could try and bulk up which may help. Other than that, surgery is the way to go.

the doctor measured 4.6 inches on my stomach , 2.3 inches on my thighs, 1.1 on my arms. if i have to loose, say, another 2 stone iam right in think that that could get worse?

Well, you don't have to lose anything, but yes it will get worse.

Forget about BMI, it's misleading and doesn't take into account muscle mass. In fact I'd go so far to say that's it's just bloody stupid.

A 6ft guy at 240lbs is considered obese according to the BMI, yet he may only have 10% body fat and look like this.
