Here's a germ of an idea I'm having for a possible '09 edition of the jersey -feedback?

I am not sure tbh ... it's nice and all ,,, but, it's just an excuse to have your own name on a pink jersey isn't it? :pac:

I like our kit as it is ...

    cos i'm a bit overweight

Just like so many of us around here rest assured.;) My old boards jersey is only tight around my belly.

A bit Dublin is being very kind - I'd call it more 'cliquey'... Disappointing, Tiny... :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 253 ✭✭Tackleberry

Well in Tiny's defence even my names on it and I certainly wouldn't rate myself as part of the so-called clique!

Looks nice tho its a good idea but you'd obviously have to include everyone who buys one and get rid of the pink for a red or white!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,509 ✭✭✭✭DirkVoodoo

Being a "first draft" I think he was probably going more for just an example of having a bunch of usernames on the jersey, it's not like it has been emailed to the jersey manufacturers anyway.

It looks good, clever idea. I'm not a fan of pink personally.

I like it a lot in general, but not the names.
My issue with the names is pure vanity - a man of my girth, would have that girth mightly accentuated by having lot of names across his chest.

I do like the colour and general design, especially the trim.

If I could get it, with my name on, say the sleeve, or back pocket - then I would get it.
    Thanks for the effort.

    Needs more pink tbh.

Right, it would seem the 'names' idea ain't so popular, so we can scrap that -for those disappointed that your name weren't there, it is just a draft, so I only put a few usernames on it, to get the idea across (Tim Allen was deliberate though :) ), not to be cliquey at all.

Back to the drawing board I guess

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,104 ✭✭✭alfalad

Think the names are kinda cool, and do like the color/design so well done boss!

It'd go well with dark blue socks!

It would be most excellent if the new design used the same colour scheme as the old one. That way, one could chop and change between jerseys and shorts. Also, when riding in a group, there wouldn't be a clash between old and new jerseys, we'd still all be identifiable as the one gang.

You could try doing what they did with the Irish Rugby Jersey and try put the names into the boards logo ?

Yeah, exactly bastards, where's my name on it? :pac:
Or is the back view a huge target, kinda appropriate for Dublin cycling I would say!
Perhaps something like Pay my road tax? :D

I agree that the original design should stay with alternative colours.

I think it's some kind of void where many many hours of time seem to be lost.

I agree Names are a bit silly -- perhaps you could list the names of the Sportives / races in ireland or something on the sleeve and do something else there. Usernames will make the jersey a bit exclusive and it really a 'jersey for all the people'............

I liked some of the other designs from before when this came up.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,831 ✭✭✭ROK ON

    Colours - yes
    Names - No
List of sportives - no (thats just boasting, and it may date)
Other designs - really liked the Boards face peaking out of the back pocket on another design (can't remember who) - pure class.

Word of caution - I was out on Sunday 2weeks back for a spin in Wicklow.
Wearing a black SS jersey, and the weather was glorious. I really felt the heat on my back.
I know we dont often get good weather in Ireland (but I am trying to be optimistic). Black gear is generally a bad idea on a very sunny day.

So we should go for the black version with pink trim, but as an alternate for sunny days, we should have either white with pink trim or pink with black trim.

If we were going with a new jersey, I think that we should try to find alternative manufacturer. I have bought too many jerseys to count from online stores, and the guys that make the Boards stuff are the only guys whose sizing I simply can't fathom (and yes, I do follow their sizing guide).

I think the quality of the gear is great. We have a relationship with em now. They also do custom sizing.. Who got that and how did it work out ?

    Apart from the odd sizing...

I think the shorts are quite comfortable. I like them, apart from the transparancy in the wet thang.

I have questions over the training jacket...
Specifically, the rear pockets are difficult to access compared to some other jerseys I have. That said, a couple of others I have are equally difficult. The zip tabs on the back keep getting stuck making it tricky to unzip/zip. I've noticed that mine has a metal tab while others have a cloth, so maybe it's just mine.
The white lining just inside the front zip keeps getting stuck in the zip if you are not careful zipping/unzipping and sometimes even if you are.

The short sleeve jersey is quite good. I originally thought the bottom of the non-zipper side (bit that you insert into the zipper) may fail in the future, but it's held out well.

The armwarmers and knee warmers did not look too well made, but I'll be getting replacements as they are the wrong size anyway. I can't wear either so I don't know how comfortable they are.

This is annoying alright. Impossible to unzip with one hand.
