    Barca lineup:
VALDÉS; ALVES, PIQUÉ, PUYOL, ABIDAL; BUSQUETS, XAVI, KEITA; MESSI, INIESTA, ETO'O

A win tonight can put Barca within 9 points of Mathematically securing la liga with 5 games remaining.

Anyone else think la liga is turning into a bit of a joke with 1st place team 24 points ahead of 3rd place team and potentially 27 points ahead by tomorrow evening after Sevilla play Real Madrid ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,246 ✭✭✭Mgoraf

Nah just this season Barca have been so much better than the rest of them. The last 2 or 3 seasons the league was been closer at the top than this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

I know but its setting a dangerous trend if it was to continue. A lot of persons who dont really watch la liga already hold the view its only ever Real or Barca. This will only help solidate them persons views. Its actually making the league a bit boring being honest as Barca arent really under ant real ressure since maybe november last year.

Great teams are remembered by what they win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,246 ✭✭✭Mgoraf

Ohhhh two big calls for a peno to Valencia there! 2nd one looked stone wall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,246 ✭✭✭Mgoraf

Renan has been out for a few months with injury. Must not be fit.

Nice bit of play-acting by the keeper

    Full-time:
    Valencia 2-2 Barca

Just thinking that this draw could have far bigger consequences presuming Real win their game in hand tomorrow and El Clasico next week then the lead is only a single point !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,814 ✭✭✭✭JPA

Ya, Real Madrid are getting little credit for their phenomenal run.
But beating Barca at home would take quite a performance.

Wait, Barca are having arguably their best season ever, on course for a record liga points tally, and yet a poor Real Madrid side are still within touching distance of them. 15 wins and 1 draw in their last 16.. yeah, no real pressure...

Its a good draw. Valencia are in cracking form at the moment, and all good runs come to an end. I would have settled for 2-2 before this game no doubt. That said i did not see the game, so cannot comment on who deserved it or not. But Real have to go to the pisscan tonight. 3 points are far from assured. Sevilla will not lose 3 on the spin. If Real win, the Classico next week is going to be one of the most nerve wracking games ever.

Madrids pursuit of Barca is incredible. It must be very demoralising for Barca to see Real grinding out results week in week out. If they win the league it will be a cap tp an incredible run.

And FYI, The Classico is at the Bernabeu.

2-2 is a very good result. Realistically Real have to beat Barcelona by three goals next week to be really in the driving seat. A 1-0 defeat, 2-0 defeat or even 3-2 defeat isn't a horrendous result for Barcelona as it would still be in their hands with Real away to Valencia and Villareal.

And Real's run isn't that incredible given the chances sides have had against them. Give Barcelona the chances Kun Aguero, Forlan and Casquero have had and they'll need more than last minute winners imo.

That Real side aint the strongest. Kinaldo if you call having a 12point lead and then a 6point lead being under real pressure then god help you.

It's about as much pressure as humanly possible, just unfortunate that collectively Barca are super-human this season. Almost any other season they would be top after a run like that.

Real will stroll the 2nd half and win 1-4. Sevilla had their chances, blew some sitters. Real will take strength from that

I love how opposition fans say things like this to try and jinx them.

    Never works :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

Not trying to jinx anything. That is how Real have rolled this season. Soak up the pressure, get a break away goal and go on from there.

There is no way Real Madrid will not win this game.

There's nothing so far to suggest they'll stroll to a 4-1 win.

It could go either way. 1-2 would be a fantastic result. 1-4 is would be a miracle.

So, assuming Real go on and win, the gap is 4 points, 16 wins out of 17, and Barca at home next week.

    No real pressure, Redout?

Whatever man. We have had a few bumps no doubt and a lot of defensive injuries (infact the majority of our injuries)this season but one thing is sure and that is that the best CB pairing in the world resides in Manchester. I do believe we also set some sort of record going 14 games without conceding did we not ?

Meh. Real Madrid kept quite a few clean sheets too. They were called lucky.
