I'm guessing most of you are going to agree that this is a little extreme. Ahh religous nutters, what else will they think of next. Why can't they just leave people alone.
Plans to promote medical treatment for homosexuality at a religious conference have been criticised by doctors.

The event will hear from prominent American psychologist Dr Joseph Nicolosi who said he had helped many people to become heterosexual.

    Yeah, but
He said he was offering a choice for people who were unhappy being gay.

It's not like they're being kidnapped and forced.

What a sad day for Lesbian porn lovers like me if this ever happens. I mean think of the school children in 6th class who won't be able to huddle into groups at break time anymore watching lesbian porn on phones anymore. They'd have to actually play with each other and not themselves!!

But the Royal College of Psychiatrists said there was no supporting evidence and such treatment could be damaging.

I love this quote. In the 50's and 60's psychiatrists claimed that homosexuality was a mental illness. They've obviously changed their minds.

Well if they didn't believe minds could be changed, they're in the wrong business.

No, the universe equalised from the penalty spot five minutes ago (after C. Ronaldo dived in the area).

To stop people like Graham Norton etc and every other fcukin camp tv presenter who thinks that talking about gay sex and sexual innuendo makes them funny....it doesn't..you're not funny, it's tiring and we wish you were dead when we hear it.
No problem with gays..but mfg..they're bitches.
And another reason? That tosser Perez Hilton who had to change his name to that of Paris Hilton and out people against their free will. He then had the cheek to lecture Miss California for her bigoted views. What a c0cksucker...

There is a cure for the cure
    Gay bomb
The 1994 plans were for a six-year project costing $7.5m, but they were never pursued.
    ...
The plan for a so-called "love bomb" envisaged an aphrodisiac chemical that would provoke widespread homosexual behaviour among troops

Exactly...I wonder why exactly these people would be 'unhappy' with being gay...the gay people I know (who are accepted for who they are) are perfectly happy being gay...

Of course, you're not going to feel too 'happy' with your sexuality of you're being told it's sinful and evil...

News like this makes me sad...:(

    Please don't slate me but . . .

A lot of people are deeply uncomfortable with homosexual urges.

I don't think this would work on people who are "fully gay" but perhaps with bisexuals it might help them.

You hear about men with families who start homosexual affairs. Or Bi adolescents who aren't comfortable with homosexual urges.

I'd like to know more about this Dr.Nicolosi guy, if he's religiously motivated I'd be tempted to write him off but maybe he is actually out to help people like the above.

I like how you automatically jumped to the 'it must be religion's fault' standard come-back when anyone dares suggest anything that isn't p.c.

I have a gay friend who was deeply unhappy about it. The fear of the stigma, the fear of coming-out to his parents ( and it was a non-religious family - just because you happen to be atheist does not mean you're suddenly happy your only child is gay ). He was afraid of people knowing, he was too reserved to ever act on it in public ( ie go to gay-bars etc. )for years. He loves kids and went into serious depression that he may not get the chance to have a family.

He has relaxed these fears in the last few years, his family knows and have accepted it, his friends accept it, but I know it still upsets him, have oft sat down with him having the 'why me conversation'. He is also in treatment for acute depression stemming from this.

I truly believe that if someone could cure it tomorrow he'd be right at the front of the queue.

Totally ridiculous. I think rather than trying to 'fix' something that isnt broken they should focus their efforts on making the people in question more accepting of who they are.

And the days of constantly needing to reproduce are over. Where exactly does it say that it has to be a man and woman to form a couple, other than in religion.

Ok this may just be because i watched it the other day... but does this "cure" remind anyone of X-Men (i can't remember which one.. the one with the cure!)? and we all saw what happened there....

By saying there is a cure your implying that everyone who is gay (happy or not) has a disease.. which will offend a lot of gay gay people (see what i did there???)

Oh and before anyone shouts at me no i'm not comparing gay people to mutants, just making an observation..

why should a homosexual be offended if the fault is found and then fixed to be called by the name of their ailment?

Religion comes into it because that seems to be where the majority of problems accepting people that are gay come from. I never said anything about genes, then again, how do we know its not an eveloutionary thing?

to not offend all retarded dwarf's we won't look into the cause's/prevention for it in the future.

the point I was making was about "accepting" it's not about if one accepts someone for who they are.

We don't accept cancer, we don't accept mental illness, we don't accpet thousands of situations where something has gone "wrong" we try to fix that.

I don't see why a "ghey" should be anymore insulted than anyone else we try to "fix"

Because being gay isnt a disease, it dosent threaten your life or hinder you from doing the things you want to do. It also isnt wrong. Its time society woke up to that fact. By your reasoning we should try to 'fix' anyone who dosent fit into the catagories that we find acceptable. Maybe theyll invent a 'cure' for being black, or for liking certain music the majority of us dont like.

Actually if they could invent a cure for skangerism Id be happy

you can put any name on it you want it doesn't really change it.

It doesn't have to threaten ones life even tho i'd like to see the satistics on homosexual suicide. You think I'm some old donkey that can't come around having a modern view on homsexuality, I'm not a 13yr old child who thinks "yuck" when I see two men kissing.

not by my reasoning we as a soceity try and fix evertyhing about everyone _all_ the time, the same way I don't think "yuck" when a 25yr old tells me he's just been cured of cancer I don't hold the cancer against him, or if i meet someone who was born paralised there's nothing "wrong" about it but it would of been nice to be able to prevent it.

    I'm not some "ghey basher"
