I have started back running recently and am training to get back to a fairly high level of fitness before giving MMA a go.

I have a decent interval training program to improve cardio fitness basically it involves Jogging for 2 mins running hard for 3 mins sprinting for 1 min and slowing it down again for 2 mins etc. etc.

    Heres my question:

Instead of having to keep checkin a stopwatch for my intervals, I listen to my ipod when I train, does anyone have a suggestion for any software thats out there where I could edit a song on my ipod to 1 minute then edit a song to two minutes (ie when the song changes Its the next interval)

Anyone have any ideas on where to get something like this at all ?

    Thanks

I don't have what you're asking for, and I did try exactly what you're asking with some audio editing software a while back but it was too damn irritating. Everytime I wanted a 1 minute interval round I had to listen to the same damn song over and over again.

The closes thing to what you're talking about that I know of is Podrunner, which is a monthly podcast on iTunes for runners. It has a set BPM or rising BPM for runners. I was skeptical but then I used it and it actually did keep my pace up.

One possibility is sorting your library on your computer by track length; create a playlist and add in a 2min song, 3 min, and 1 minute. Add as many suitable ones as possible until you run out or get to far away from the time...i assume 1.03 or 0.57 would be ok. 1 minute ones will be the hardest i'd say but you could always use the same one for the high intensity part. Then just repeat the playlist or duplicate the songs in the playlist til you have your 20, 25, 30 mins, or whatever you want.
