Just as a follow up. Do you know any other sailing club close to Cork?

Yep give Aquatrek a call or see them at aquatrek.ie, they're new in Youghal since 2007 and are a great bunch of lads who enjoy teaching sailing in a friendly environment without too much formality. I did a course with them last summer and it felt like a fun activity rather than a course but the standards were very high.
I'm sure his name is John.

you could try the royal cork yacht club or kinsale yacht club too. Glenans would be a great bet for learning, though.

Yeah those are both clubs who run courses during the summer usually. The original post was for a course which the commercial centres deliver all-year-round.
Clubs offer continuity through crewing but the crowd in Youghal give free membership for 12 months after any course.
