Now that the Lions are decided, who should be hoping for a call from Kidney ?

2 games - do you need more than 24 ? Also, need to leave some for CC squad

    FB Gavin Duffy

3Q Ian Dowling, Andrew Trimble, Shane Horgan, Gordon D'Arcy, Paddy Wallace, Darren Cave

HB Ian Humphreys, Jonathan Sexton, Peter Stringer, Chris Keane

FR John Hayes, Rory Best, Marcus Horan, Bernard Jackman, Tom Court

SR Mick O'Driscoll, Malcolm O'Kelly, Leo Cullen

BR Neil Best, Denis Leamy, Neil Ronan, David Pollock, John Muldoon

Chris Keane ahead of Reddan? You're havin' a laugh..... right? Right??

Personally, I wouldn't include anyone over the age of 30 unless they really wanted to go.

I don't see the point of these tours, the ML and HC is sufficient for developing players and they need a break otherwise they'll all just burnout.

I don't think anyone involved in the HEC final is going to be on the senior tour. The Canada game is on the same day and the USA game the week after. Some might fly over for the CC though, I imagine it will be a similar squad, with perhaps the older players going home to be replaced by some youngsters.

Don't see any point bringing Hayes or Horan. Would expect Healy, Ross and Court to be the three main props. Best will probably travel and be captain I would imagine. Fly-half choice will be interesting, Kidney seems to still see Sexton as next in line despite him being somewhat sidelined by Cheika. I imagine its between himself and Keatley, Humphries doesn't seem to have done himself a lot of favours lately at Ulster.

Perhaps something like this for Canada/USA (I'm assuming Munster make the HEC final)

    Court, Ross, Healy, Best, Jackman?
    Cullen, O'Kelly?, Caldwell (Toner?)
    Jennings, O'Brien, Pollock, Best (O'Connor?)
    Reddan, Murphy
    Sexton, Keatley
    D'Arcy, Cave, Wallace (McFadden?)
    Trimble, Keogh, J. Murphy
    Dempsey, Murphy

I'm probably forgetting a rake of people. Really gonna struggle to field a strong team though methinks.

Some of the senior players will go to form the backbone of the team. They are full internationals after all.

And Chris Keane is complete ****.

tbh - I didn't put that much thought into it. And, I had forgotten about Reddan :o. Once I got past Stringer, all I could think of was Boss, hence Keane.

And I also forgot about the schedule clash with the HEC final.

    I'll get me coat :o

I would assume he will travel to Edinburgh for injury cover at the very least, so he wont be available for selection.

Also i read an interview recently with Gert Smal who said he will be using this tour to specifically develop up and coming irish forwards, so dont expect the likes of Jackman, MOD, Bob Casey, Cullen etc. to be included.

At last a voice of reason. Buckley has come into form since his return from glandular fever, thought he played out of his skin for much of Saturday (apart from conceding the first penalty). He's put a lot of work into his fitness judging by the change in his physique and he seems to move better around the field.

Getting a bit ahead of ourselves, aren't we? There's still the small matter of the HC semi-final...

How on earth can we really pick this team when Munster, Leinster or Leicester could be in the HEC final. Most of the above A or B teams have neglected the fact and G and J Murphy may be busy that weekend too.

I hadn't heard the squad will be announced today either anyway. It's understandable them leaving it so late though considering they didn't know who'd be available or not til very recently. Now they have to look at the form of those who are available.

    I'd go for
    15: G Duffy
    14: F Carr
    13: D Cave
    12: D'Arcy
    11: Horgan

    10: Sexton
    9: Stringer

    8: Leamy
    7: O'Connor
    6: Muldoon
    5: M O Driscoll
    4: L Cullen
    3: Horan
    2: Cronin
    1: Hayes

    Bench:
    16. R Best
    17. C Healy
    18. D Ryan/A Browne
    19. F Murphy
    20. I Keatley/Humphries
    21. A Trimble
    22. B Murphy

Duffy and Carr are in superb form. Experienced pack, physical back row, and Cronin in the front for dynamism. Best of course can start instead of Cronin, but this would be my preferred team.

I'd hope D'Arcy's going on the Lions tour.

    Is Paddy Wallace still injured?

A playmaker like him could do wonders at 12, and might help Cave as well at 13.

I imagine Best will go and be captain. There have to be some experienced internationals there of it'll just be a glorified A game. There is no point throwing young players in en masse. I imagine Best, MOD, Reddan/Stringer, Leamy, Bowe will start.

Glad that they went for youth, for the most part.

That was my first reaction. Then it occurred to me that maybe DK wants the same squad for both full internationals. As Healy will be otherwise engaged on the day they play Canada, he's off to Denver instead.

    Ditto for Jonathan Sexton.

The matches against USA and canada clash with the HEC final so all Leicester and Leinster players arent available, that why Sexton and Keatley are in the CC squad. I'd say if everyone was available Sexton and Healey would be getting in the full team and keatley in the CC team.

Neither Sexton or Healy (or any Leinster player for that matter) are available for the full tour because of the HEC final. Both would be first choice if they were available I imagine - i'd be shocked if both don't get capped in the autumn.

Thought Carr would have been worth a punt in the full squad tbh. Ridiculous that he is behind Hurley.

Carr has scored 11 tries this season when you count ML and Challenge Cup, which is really excellent. Shouldn't be behind some of those players.
